my little song

Featured Replies

Hi all

This is a song I wrote with GuitarPro, took me about 2 days, it's not nearly as finished as I'd like it to be, but here it is. It's kind of a rock balad, I havent named it yet so I just call it "002" :).

I used GPro's RSE bank to record this so the quality is a "bit" better than midi (still kinda crappy though).

Get it here (click).

You can also get the .gp5 version here.

P.S. I'm a beginner so go easy on me :).

EDIT: I've made another version with distortion instead of slight overdrive and some small corrections, get it here

Is the lead guitar composed or improvised or both?

Both, I'd say :).

Hi,

I like the piece, the lead guitar is great, the bass is heavy. Just like a rock balad should be.

I think it would be improved by adding lyrics, and maybe variation in the bass line, maybe even a bass solo as the piece progresses.

Overall, very nice piece, and keep composing!

Not bad, it sounds very original and for me the bass was not too heavy.

Thanks guys I appreciate it.

You definitely have a talent for music! I loved this song!

Normally I find that Rock (especially this kind) is hard on my ears. But believe it or not, this reminds me very strongly of the Eagles, my all-time favorite band (maybe second to Elton John...)! I'm glad to say only the volume hurt on this one (my own doing!). Keep it up, you have a lot of talent!

i'd say this is more blues than rock, but that's my view on it.

i like the way the organ and bass really make a solid base. the sounds are ok, but not very realistic though, but that probably wasn't your priority.

this song really gives me that 'jam-band in a rehearsal room' -feel, which is cool.

the second half (at around 1:50) is a nice change and gives me a morricone-comboy vibe which sounds awesome :). the drums kicking in at around 2:00 is a nice change and makes the song interesting again. the acoustic guitar is a nice addition too. nice panning too, that widens the mix a bit more

.

the drums didn't really work out, mix-wise. they're shoved way too far to the back and there's no room in the lower frequencies for the kick since the bass is, well, very present in that area. you could make the kick stand out more by boosting it at around 3khz, to give it more of a clicky sound. it sounds like you're going for a bit of 'dirty' drum sound, and it suits the song. it's just that the hihat freqs are cutting through the mix more than the snare or kick, which is a tad bit distracting. i like how you go back to the beginning theme with the bass and organ, this is how it often goes, it calms the song down well (that organ note is helping a lot too).

solo guitars are not really my cup of tea, but this solo works for this song. i do think you could've made it a tiny bit more interesting by playing notes outside of the scales more often.

you should keep this up, it really sounds good!

(pardon my english, btw).
