I like it! a lot, Especially the oboe part....

It got a little boring, but I like it a lot....I see your style changed a little :P

So did mine...my music is now depressing sounding...

your music is Happy...I like the egiptian melody, and I am going to listen to it again! :D

I asked my teacher if we can play carnival waltz.....

James

This is very good. It does sound Egyptian and you have used GPO very well. You may want to check out Northernsounds.com and take a look at the GPO site there for more info on how to use GPO.

Thanks to both for you for listening. Ron, I will check out the site.

I love the egyptian "licks". Those 4 notes rapid mordents. You did a good job with GPO. Not too much reverb. (The reverb plugin that comes with GPO spoils the instruments IMO). May I know what scale did you use?

Excellent piece, captured the theme perfectly. The melody with the oboe was good and the way the strings moved was excellent - it felt like they were dancing. The timpani used in the background was consistently used as well to keep the rhythmn...

At around the 00:50 mark where the strings take over playing the meody, I think a bassoon or something there, perhaps playing a counter melody, would have given it a bit more depth that would distinguish it from the first part a little more, but otherwise I can't really criticise it. Good work!

YAY OBOE MELODY. I wonder if I could play it...??

I liked the theme, but I felt like it was an Egyptian Waltz though. O_o...

Really, really good piece though.

I love it! Absolutely love it! It resembles the scene perfectly. Now I envy you... :P

However, for sake of constructive criticism, I do think that you could utilize a solo viola (maybe?) or other instrument to give it more variety. Otherwise, it is beautiful!!

I too liked it (though not as much as alot of the others seem to). Though I felt it was a bit boring and predictable. The whole Egyptian theme but I felt like the idea was treated somewhat shallowly and could have been developed on alot more. All in all, a good but predictable piece.

Thanks for listening people, I really appreciate your comments. I will definitely take them into consideration. The piece is basically for an egyptian scene, it's for the game Quintessence, im sure some of you have heard it before.

I think it would really benifit with a nice counter-melody. I think there's too much Melody/accomaniment going on. Also, this is just me, but I like the "classical oboe" sample better for this than the modern one. The classical one is a little more nasal and ethnic sounding. I agree with most of the good coments, I liked the types of ornaments and the wonderfull dancelike quality that is so associated with Egypt. By the way, if you have access to the Naxos database, try checking out a CD called The music of ancient egypt- might give you some inspiration.
