Yinfara Temple (Video Game)

Featured Replies

This the first piece that I've posted here, so hello everybody. I composed this piece as part of a fan-based content group for the game Myst Online: Uru Live. The creators of a fan-made level (in this game referred to as an "age") had created a temple that was supposed to create feelings of spirituality and wonder for the player (images of the temple in development). I wrote this piece as ambient music for the temple. Kind of a shortie, but hopefully conveys the feeling that I was trying for.

- mp3 of stylized MIDI

- MIDI file

unforunately, the song gets irritating to listen to, It felt right for the location, but, it just didn't have enough differences between each section of the song. It got... boring. ^^ sorry if that was harsh...

Seemed appropriate enough... not amazing but not too boring either.

I agree that it can drag a little bit. I think adding another instrument to at least one of the sections (maybe something like a vibraphone or a bell?) could add some variety.

Of course, in a game, sometimes all you need is something ethereal like that. I'd put it in the game and see how people like it when they play.

It works, but I agree with other comments above that it gets a bit tedious. Maybe in the latter half if you bring in an oboe and/or flute playing something slow over the top? I think it just needs something like that to keep you listening.

I agree with Fox- I am waiting for a solo instrument to come out with a definite theme. I like the ambiance that you have created, and I don't think that it is boring or irritating to listen to, just that it could use more, like a solo instrument- May I recommend a flute or piano?

I found this very enjoyable to listen to, but the above still applies :) .

There is nothing wrong with this as some bakeground incidental music. It's a tad predictable, but that is what incidental music is about.

Have you ever heard the "Ice Cavern" song in Ocarina of Time?

That song is as simple as hell, just a few chords over and over, but it works.

This isn't what I'd want to listen to just for music, but I think if it played in a level of a game I'd find it really enjoyable in the right kind of level.
