3 Contemplative Preludes

I was in a contemplative mood tonight... so after I threw together 3 short preludes to represent my various emotional states. However, it's up to you, the listener, to figure out what those emotions are.

The three are:

1.) Prelude in C-Sharp Minor

2.) Prelude in C-Sharp Major

3.) Prelude in D-Sharp Minor

They are meant to be played in that order.

Ahhh... if only I could get out my true thoughts and feelings in my music, rather than this basic emotional skeleton... I suppose I'd better take a look at Scriabin's late atonality...

Anyways... comments are always welcome and much appreciated. Comments on anything will do.

The first one felt like you wanted to make something clear. You solved a personal issue there. I liked it. It's very short but the massage is clear.

The second felt like a celebration over the fact that the problem is solved. It's very minimal in the sence that it's three musical sentences in all. But i get the feeling strongly enough. If this is what you wanted to portait anyway. I liked it too.

The third one is a little unclear in it's oveall idea to me. At first it felt like it wanted to say: now i'm ready to move on after the problems solved. But i got lost along the way of the piece. So the first to where clear and therefor nicley done to me. The last one is unclear to me in it's meaning so i dissided i dind't like that one as much as the others.

I'm telling you my interpretation so it's in no way a comment. What are the preludes too? Or, that is, what do they prelude? Good luck with your quest for pure emotional translation into music. Which may be the hardest thing to reach in music and any art form, since it cannot be thought.

I can certianly see your ideas... however, they might not be what I had in mind... but the point was to leave it up to the listener to figure it out for themselves, because perhaps in doing so, it might reveal more about themselves.

Again, I'll choose not to divulge what I was contemplating at the time of writing...

And these are preludes to my grand Mysterium. I plan on picking up where Scriabin left off.

... Just kidding! They are preludes in the Chopin, Scriabin, and Rachmaninoff sense. They're not really preludes to anything. They're just... there.

Although... perhaps I could unify all the thoughts into one final idea, creating a large piece that unites them...

I never got the idea of calling a piece a prelude if nothing follows it, since it so litterely means "before something else". But it's fully ok with me though. A grand follow up may be a nice idea. The pieces are quite short and leave enough room for something new. Although "enough room" is moreso a question of creativity, i think. If you go ahead and do so i'm curious to see what you make of it.
