Even going the 'regular' route for hosting/domain space is affordable. I pay about $50 / year for domain + hosting.
Yeah, and it's more reliable... I don't have to worry about "a friend of a friend" suddenly ignoring my requests or cutting off my access, or "dude, sorry I just forgot your stuff was there and I wiped it..."

Justin, I can't say I like the website. From a professional point of view: Too much info, too much text, too small text, too much info (yes, twice), and the services you offer are a page long. I, personally, wouldn't trust a trombonist who is also a composer, who is also a copyist, who is also an arranger, who is also a... You get the picture. But I'm tough on you, right now. You may very well do all those things at an excellent level, but... :-/

Another thing. If you are bloody charging UP TO $8 per page for copyist service you are killing the industry outright! Such services could very well be charged for $50 per page, on full scores, and on Hollywood you get $200 per minute of music or so (which could be 10 pages, or 2 pages; depends on the tempo). Keep in mind that, again, if I was to have a copyist, I wouldn't trust a cheap one. You get what you pay for and this applies for services and everything else: Best meat is the most expensive, best cars are the most expensive and best... copyists are the most expensive.

You also list ALL YOUR WORKS. I mean they must all be amazing, if you are to be using them for advertising purposes.. ??? Just use 3-4 that you think are best, or describe best what you do.

If you do want to talk about it. He's offering commercial services. Have you ever seen a store selling cigarettes for less, because "the store just opened"? Or maybe get a hair cut half price "because the hair dresser is too young"? Or maybe a doctor offering "75% off, because I just gratuated"?

You don't get experience by screwing a so sensetive industry, you either do it for free in free projects (I have done such things in the past, for example write music for freeware games, and for free, of course), or go the full fledge, or at least not at a ridiculous price.

$8 for a full orchestral page, which might be 2-3 hours would be 3-4$ per hour. I don't know about you, but student or not, he does deserve a little more than that. And this is without considering any expenses like buying Sibelius 5 (which he advertised in his website), getting a computer and what not.

When one wants to begin getting paid for their services they should take into account:

A. Costs/expenses.

B. time involves to get the job done, when offering services, and not goods

C. Price flagging: What do other people offer?

D. Not to destroy a market by offering too low price.

E. Ultimately since they would like to get paid, they probably also want to grow (as an "office" or "service") and get better stuff, or at least make some kind of living, or make an earning at least.

Honestly, if I gave Justin (or anyone) my scores to create, they would waste much more than 2 hours per page and I would be most happy to have a ready made score for... $80 per 10 pages (which I would definately huggle to get down).

Don't get me wrong, I know that Justin should not ask Hollywood prices, or even full fledge commercial prices, but $8 per page is simply too low and I'm offering an advice. If he's offering services to YC, this price makes sense, if he's offering services to other parties it may simply be too low and he might be hurting other people who might be trying to make a living this way.

No? ;)
