Pachelbel Tribute

The main issues I'm having are how I should continue this piece. I've already stated the same general pattern twice (play the mixed meter 3/4 4/4 sections to a build and then play the 4/4 section with the I V iii vi IV I IV V. Should I give it a mysterious staccato feel as I move forward? Or should I give it somewhat of a finale compared to the first sections? I know that pachelbel had an excellent contrapuntal style and he would have several "high points" throughout his music. PS - This is based loosely on Pachelbel's Chaconne in D. Comment? Questions?

Try posting in Incomplete Works?

How is this based on Pachabel? (sp?) It doesn't sound like his Cannon at all. The progression isn't even right. It's I V VI III IV V IV V. Honestly, it sounds like that music you hear in a Cadilac commercial where the car is driving along a peaceful road.

You realize that it's not about the Canon in D, Justin? And even less so about a cannon.

Also, Mr. Snow's spelling "Pachelbel" is quite correct, no need to change that...

Psst, it's also not a V in the middle there (underlined above). It's a I.

And there's only one "N" in the middle of "c-a-n-o-n"

However, I think you should show a tiny bit more civility here. The person posted a piece which they entitled "tribute", not copy, or imitation, or paraphrase.

To the OP:

I think you have a nice start, however, permit me to say, I think you return to the tonic a tiny bit too fast in your progression. Try to balance out the length of each set of harmony you use. Right now, you have two longer "strophes" and then the final cadential one is much too short in comparison.

I really liked it!! I does remind me of Pachelbel, and in no way dose it reminded me of a "Cadillac commercial". I actually think you should continue and repeat the last two measures but that's all my ear is telling me. Keep on writing!!!!! Dont let certain people discourage you.

!?

Oh come on, now.

PS: The actual thing sounds nice.
