I haven't written something in a few weeks. I'll have to give this a try.

Does it have to be slow and sustained, like you'd be used to hearing in a church, or

can it be a bit more bouncy?

Bouncy is fine. The only thing I'm really looking for here is a nice beautiful melody. As long as it's not gonna sound like I'm trying to kill someone, I say go for it!!

And how about intervals? Are you OK with going up/down sixths without any reference points?

And what's your comfortable range? I've written from the E - first line on the staff - up to A - a ledger line above. Are eigth notes at 95 BPM 4/4 okay for these kinds of notes? And how long could you sustain a C - one line below the staff?

Here is my contribution. However, it is less than 2 minutes long.

Let me know if it's playable.

the range is PERFECT. and speed is just fine. a low c.... i could hold it for probably a whole minute :P

a low C like that can be held out on a trumpet for quite a long time... at 95 BPM in 4/4... probably 6-12 measures depending on volume

It is quite playable. Is this your final entry? If you'd like to make any alterations or variations or maybe write an acompaniment you should have some time. I've extended the deadline to January 16th at midnight

Great! Jan. 16th it is then. Do you have access to a Cello player and a violinist?

Please forgive the continuing barrage of techical questions, but is an A-Bb trill manageable?

And, are long phrases OK, so long as you've got a few spots where it's OK to breathe?

Cello and violin would be stretching it a bit... i was kind of aiming for a solo trumpet with a possible piano acompaniment. I would prefer these parts to be somehow incoroporated into the accompaniment.

Long phrases are okay, and just make sure the A-Bb trill isn't at the tail end of a long phrase. I need a lot of air to make those notes clean.

Well, I kind of finished.

It is a first movement for a trumpet sonata.

I added the score, but I forgot to write the tempo: it should be around one quarter = 120.

If you wish I can make efforts to finish the other movements till Jan. 16, I have sketches.

Tell me if it playable :)

And one more thing - It is written for Bb trumpet. Which trumpet do you play?

Nitzan.

If you really can't find anyone, I could try to adapt the accompaniement for piano. Let me know if you can't seem to snag two string players.

This piece is very playable. Try and finish the other movements if at all possible. Bb is what i play

Here you go. I don't think I exceeded a comfortable range, although the last part could be a bit difficult :whistling: . There aren't any breathing spots written in per se, but anything longer than an eight note can be cut to breathe. If there are any problems, let me know.

Score + parts + mus are attached, mp3 is here:

Cheers!
