The Faerie Gate

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

This little piece is the product of me engaging some different inner styles and unleashing them in a single cute work. About 2 hours worth of fun for me, which I call a great way to spend part of an afternoon.

It's not for any project, by the way, just me having some fun, so I can't give you any specific scenario to imagine it with. I think that's better since you can engage your imaginations and hopefully enjoy whatever imagery it evokes for you...

Let me know what you think. I hope you enjoy it!

It's pretty awesome. Makes me think of a more exciting version of 'The Dark Crystal' combined with 'The Labyrinth'. Which is a good thing because I love both films.

It's pretty savvy for 2 hours work, nice 'un.

IT is really good :D

Added to favorites >.<

:-o I did enjoyed this a lot

I just wonder why wasn't it longer, I just didn't expected it too finish so soon

there was these parts in the middle section very very rich in sound.

I'm not 100% sure the ensamble isn't real xD

how do you get these sounds? any software I don't know about?

Heya!

Thanks for the comments! Andy, I happen to love both those soundtracks too so I take that as a big compliment. :)

Marcel, I could have extended it but I wasn't really aiming to make a huge piece, just a fun little cue. As for the sound, I have a very large and diverse collection of sound libraries and I've gotten pretty good at sequencing so I manage to get quite a convincing sound out of my computer. I'm not sure what software you're familiar with, but I score in Finale, sequence in Logic, render using my sample library collection, and then do any other audio post-production stuff in Adobe Audition. Hope that helps! I'm glad you enjoyed it, either way! :)

I really enjoyed this, i love your use of percussion. I hope that one day I can compose something like this!

Very nice, I like the song. It's got a bit of mystery behind it with the occasional burst of power. It's cool!

On a second note, what's Logic? Is it a non-free version of audacity? Because whatever you're doing, the sounds are really good.

Thanks, guys!

iiraiykha, don't worry — if you keep at it you will! Omaster, Logic is actually a very powerful sequencing software and it's definitely not free (nor like Audacity). You can read about it here: Apple - Logic Studio .

What makes it sound so good is the sound libraries it's rendered with and the precision of the MIDI sequencing. Takes some practise and money, but as you get more serious about composing, it'll come. :)

Thanks for listening!

this is awesome! i just dont understand how you could possibly compose this in two hours?! you must be good:toothygrin:

I liked this piece it had that eerie child-like dark theme going for it. The exaggerating swells are a pretty nice touch, especially when you conclude them with some woodwind and tingling piano fills. I am not sure I agree with the first guy to post though, I am way too big a fan of both David Bowie/Trevor Jones' work on Labyrinth and the music of The Dark Crystal - and I didn't see much relation, but it did come out very well and shows that you have a very persistent and knowledgeable approach to arranging.
