Smoky Mountain Sunrise

Featured Replies

Hey everybody!

This is a quartet for two violins, viola, and piano. It took two days to write. I'm pretty happy with it because it encompasses a lot of different ideas without really straying too far from the central idea. The piano part is sort of jarring and rythmic, but the strings really smooth it out.

The scene is supposed to be a Sunrise, but there are hints of wildlife (the pizzicato=birds, etc.)

Comments are, as always, welcome!

Thank you!

Jeez, Jon, this peice sucks. You should probably go to a nearby bridge and jump off of it.

Hah. Jussskiddin.

I really like this, but my only thing about it is the title. The title sounds kind of like a show I would go see in Branson. 'The Smoky Mountain Sunrise Jubilee', yeeah. This peice reminds me of something I would listen to witten by Copland. But I think the title should be changed, but still have something that has to do with nature incorperated in it, because it reminds me of nature.

Just my two cents though...

See you at play practice tomorrow.

Jon

I am a little curious as to the time spent on this. 2 Days can mean anything from a minute each day to the whole 48 hours.

I do like the piece.

Nicely done

Hunter: You're right about the title. Little cheesy, I'll work on it, haha.

Ron: Three hours on the first day, two hours on the second. (This one sort of just fell

out of me, haha.) Thank you for listening. Thank you more for enjoying!

It is a little... jarred and seemingly disorganized at times but overall, I enjoyed it very much. Bravo.

It could just be my ADD acting up but I don't think I ever caught on to the underlying theme. That could also be just because I listened to it and never looked at the score.... but enh. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it just makes this piece sound to me a little like very pleasant rambling.

Much enjoyable.

Haha, it's hard to pick out, I guess. However, it's very present: not a theme so much as an idea. I'm sure that you would find it in a heartbeat if you looked at the score.

BTW: Thank you! I think I found the new title! Scratch "Smoky Mountain Sunrise," the new title is "A Very Pleasant Rambling."

Good job! It has sort of an Asian feel to it.

Chinese, definately Chinese!

It reminds me of the Yellow River Piano Concerto by Xian Xinghai.

I like it. Possibly a little more "going somewhere" rather than musical painting.

I wasn't going to specify a specific Asian country, just because I didn't want to offend someone, or say something wrong.

Can't see a problem why. Maybe I should say it has a Chinese feel to it.
