The Twelve Olympians Contest!

TENTATIVE DEADLINE APRIL 15!!

Write a piece USING ANY INSTRUMENTS with the theme of a greek god(dess) of your choice (Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, Apollo, Etc.).

The piece can be any length and style.

Would anyone like to judge?

Micah (Pianoforte)

write a peice with the theme of any aspect of greek mythology, (aka. gods, monsters, hero's, creatures, etc.)

also, you can do a set of pieces and submit them together.

I'll do Artemis.

I might do Hestia, just for a challenge. Still, I won't actually be submitting anything, as I don't have notation software, so for official purposes, count me out. I just like the idea.

I'll do Zeus and Aphrodite in one. it will be a powerful but romantic piece :) when is the deadline?

Hi Micah,

One question at least arises in my mind:

When is the deadline due?

Would be more then happy to judge the pieces.

Kind regards,

B.guy

I can judge if you want.

I'm in.

Can you tell us YOUR list of which 12 you want, since different accounts name different Gods as part of the twelve.

If he is on your list, I will take Hades.

I'd like to be a judge.

Who's up for making this a March monthly competition event? Could be a bi-monthly event. March-April. Up to you guys, but I think we should.

on my original list, hades was not technicaly one of the twelve (he did not live on olympus)

however, if you would like, we can make it a greek myth contest (that would mean you can use gods, magical creatures, heroes, or monsters)

tell me what you think about that idea...

also, lets make a very tentative deadline of April 1st (we can add time if you need it)

thank you for the interest,

do you mean you think we should do this each month? that would be pretty cool...

I much prefer the whole spectrum of Greek mythos.

Perhaps a poll is in order?

I think that the GREEK MYTHOLOGY idea should work,

(that way, anyone who wants to do a god can do any god, and if you would rather do a hero, monster, etc. you can write something with that theme.

so, you can write anything with the theme of GREEK MYTHOLOGY!

MICAH PIANOFORTE

Neat, I will write a piece for the Moirae.

AHHHHH.

I started one for orchestra!!!

Can it please be for any instrumentation?

^

I second.

w00t w00t!

Okay, I'll do Prometheus...

wait a second....

*checks wikipedia*

:O he's a titan, not a god!!

*edits wikipedia*

nevermind :)

Hmmm, okay so as long as it's with greek mythology.. so titans are cool, otherwise I would have done Ήφαιστος (Hephaestus)

but it's not! so Προμηθεύς (prometheus) it is!!

Here's mine:

Could I write one about Odyseus? I already have a couple of melody sketches for him!

  • Author

odysseus would be fine (he is a part of greek mythology, isn't he?)

I only just saw this and would love to enter... let us see if I can whip something out to meet the deadline :(

It's a while away.

Why not take a shot? :P

Yes, he is.

Oh I feel dumb. For some reason I thought the deadline was march 15 and not april.

I'll try. I'll either do Persephone, Athena or Apollo (but probably Persephone).
