Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

This is my first post, and its my arrangement of Bach's Double Invention No. 8, scored for Violin and Cello. Please give me some pointers!

Thanks!

Hi JE - welcome to the forum! The finale file plays more like an Adagio rather than Vivace on my computer.

If you haven't seen it already, Janine Jensen has a CD of violin-viola and violin-viola-cello arrangements of the two- and three-part inventions.

Also, there was a post similar to yours from awhile back:

To be brutally honest, this isn't an "arrangement".

All you did was assign each line to an instrument.

I'd suggest instead of spending time on this sort of exercise, that you try and write something similar (if this music appeals to you) without just taking Bach's music and changing a keyboard into two string parts.

In other words, it would be a considerably better exercise for you to actually compose something.

If you want to make an arrangement, at least choose something that has multiple voices and then spend some time carefully assigning important material to instruments.

I agree, this shouldn't be here.

A more appropriate title would be "Bach's F Major Invention No.8 arranged for ..."
