Who wrote this piece?

Featured Replies

I recorded a piece when I was around 12 on a tape player. I never knew who the composer was. I had no way of finding out either because there was no such thing as the internet back then. I kept the tape ever since. Since I have no idea how to port the music over to mp3, I copied the first few measure of the piece in a midi. This piece is the first piece I ever listened to that motivated me to compose music (I recall the beautiful cello section on this piece, which I remember making me desire to compose even more), and I would like to know who composed this piece!

I hope someone can help me!

UNKNOWN.MID

Gave it a shot; sorry, doesn't sound familiar. It sounds like Mozart sort of.

That's what I thought, but it sounded too....modern. My next guess would be Beethoven, but I thought I knew most of Beethoven's major works, and this piece never came up. Maybe I should have said this piece contains bells, shakes, and is a full orchestra.

If you have a cable that can plug into the input on your computer, and a tape player that has a headphone jack, you can use something like Audacity to record the input as it plays from the tape player. The quality might be rough, but it could be enough for someone to place it.

I remember that there was a classical website somewhere that actually let you search for sequences of notes inside pieces, but I can't find it any more. Anyone else know what site I'm talking about?

I believe this is the site that you're talking about: Musipedia

I'd say its maybe JS Bach because it does not have any change in the tempo nor dynamics. So it should be in the Baroque or Classical era.......

Or it could be an under-programed MIDI. Just maybe.

I have no idea
