an attempt at Bossa Nova...

Featured Replies

Primavera.mp3 (Spring, well it's spring here anyway... ;) )

My quick attempt a Bossa Nova. This was created by writing the guitar part first, then scoring it all in Allegro. Finally I exported each staff as a seperat MIDI file and re-mixed them in GarageBand...

INSTRUMENTATION:

Flute

Classical Guitar

Electric Piano

Fretless Bass

Percussion

The percussion is just a slight edit on one of the samples supplied with Allegro (I'm no good at percussion!!!)

Not brilliant, I know but I Quite Like playing Bossa Nova on the Guitar

Enjoy...

  • 1 month later...

I just picked through most of the guitar so far, and I like it.

It has a real true Bossa Nova feel to it, which I'm glad to see....so many things label themselves Bossa Nova and hardly fit.

could you get a midi or something of the rest?

I'd be curious to really hear it

I can't get the mp3 to play. I keep getting a page load error.

Hi, sorry the link was down, the free hosting company I had that site on closed business, I've moved it so it should be working now:

Primavera.mp3

Yes, it's certainly bossa nova. You've got some nice, if rather conventional, chord progressions and a pleasant melody. It doesn't break any new ground or anything, but if you were just trying to write something in that genre, I'd say you were successful.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, I know it's nothing special -- it was just enjoyable to play and write...:)
