Hello all and... Hi...

Featured Replies

Hey everyone.

That's the second time I am posting a thread. The 1st time was in "Orchestral and Large Ensemble" and I was told that I posted my thread in the wrong catagory and the right one is "Incidental music and Soundtracks"....

Ohhh... so that's why I had no replys... ahm ahm... :)

Anywhoo's... These are 2 peices (which are actually one peice cut to two parts) I did 2 years ago for a kids play about pirates :)

48 kids and 8 grownups played on the stage.

unfortunately not very high quality and made with Edirol Orchestra.

Eventually I will remake it.

I used Logic Audio 5 at that time. today (unfortunately) I use Cubase 3sx.

So here's the link for Coop on

And the second one here

I think your music will do better in here. Lately a few of us in this section have been fairly good at replying to each others posts. It takes a while to see who comments and who doesn't. I just ignore those that post their own music and do not wish to participate further. They slowy get the message.

These are both very nice pieces.

If you don't mind, can you add in your original post (in this thread) what libraries you are using and what DAW/notation program.

Ron

hey there.... This is some really good stuff. Especially because it's done in Edirol. I really liked both, nice orchestration, motives and themes are pretty well put together and harmonized nicely, it's very, very good. The only thing I don't like is the percussion... it could of been more than just rolls... I feel a solid rhythm would make this more interesting, some snares, and basses.. etc. Anyway, overall I think its very good.

How long have you been composing?

I think this is awesome well done! why don't you tell us a bit more about the play you wrote this for so we can get an idea of what this is incidental to.

:-)

great stuff, this is a very good demonstration of orchestration and composition skills.

I added to the original post more info on what, where and how... hope it helps. :)

Regarding the play, even though it was for kids and all, the play was without a doubt, a very uniq and taken very seriously.

I was given the job after remaking "a whole new world" from alladdin.

It was pritty good so they asked me if I can compose and I said... "SURE!"

aaaand that's about it.

The opening of the first piece is very nice, lovely chords. Then the pirate music starts and I imagine a bunch of pirates drinking their rum and cleaning the decks of their pirate ship. But less about my fantasies! :D

The 2nd one is again very nice in orchestration and how you treated the instruments and what you gave them to do. The piece is very coherant and I can hear a lot of effort went into things with this piece.

Thanks Anthony.

Your "fantasies" were pretty much correct! :)

But it was all on the possitive side even if it's pirates...

this thread is way to empty!

I actually thought I was better...

guess i'll have to work harder.

mate i have to be honest...i really liked it :D seriously nice :D

Very nice. My only gripe is that they are end quickier then I would like them too. :P These would work well in a film or cut scenes for a game perhaps.

I, too, am curious as to how long it took to write and mix these?

  • Author

about 3 days. I never really had time to do a good mix.

I am going to remake these because they were made with an EDIROL.

Today I am using EWQL which is absolutly fantastic in comparance.
