Little Nocturne in D Major

Featured Replies

Just a little something that came out yesterday at the piano, written today.

This is really beautiful. The harmonies are quite Chopinesque. The only thing that didn't really work in my ears were thos half steps up to G, before the main theme comes in. But besides that little thing, and even with that, I really liked it.

Very enjoyable to listen to!

Very beautiful and easy to listen to.

The whole 8va section gives it a very relaxing, calm, and almost dainty feeling that I quite enjoyed.

Interesting! Some of the harmonies I found quite nice, though that awful rough GPO piano made it sound very heavy! Try fiddling with the EQ.

As usual, I love your rhythms, and hate your notation. In particular your lack of phrasing; your seemingly contempt for mordents, your awfully; awfully notated syncopated rhythms; measures 18 and 20, and your ridiculous placement of the pedal marking, it goes below with a * at the end for the lift.

I also think your 8va marking should've began sooner and that the piece could have benefited from a lot more pedal.

Good job though! Nice music!

The piece is supposed to have pedal ad libitum all the way. The pedal marking at the end means that it is MANDATORY to keep the pedal until the end. And since it is until the end, why write the lift?

If by lack of phrasing you mean no legato markings, it says "sempre legato" at the beginning.

Yes, I always forget that thing about the syncopated rhythms. I'll fix it. :P

The piece is supposed to have pedal ad libido all the way...

I meant for playback!

I don't know if you noticed, but there is always some pedal in the playback, because I set up the Romantic HP setting. :P Had I used the standard one, there would've been no pedal at all.

I like the minute pedal only, it gives it the lightness I want it to have.

Nice little Nocturne. I'll leave the picking apart of it to those who are able to.
