April 13, 200619 yr Were is the best place to play music and make money? In my opinion, the best place for an amateur to get recognized is to play at a college dedicated to the arts, because the more musicians you are surrounded by, the more contacts you will have. If you don't want to rely on contacts to become successful (you may be waiting for awhile!) doing freelance work can be more profitable than working for a concert hall, if you know how to advertise yourself well. For example, you can be a pianist for weddings and make good money. Or open up a "string quartet" to play at special occasions. You always make more money in anything you do, if you are your own boss (and do it correctly). You make alot less money if you work for someone else. The tradeoffs lie in the fact that working for someone is much easier, since you don't have to put in extra effort to find work. Working for yourself can be tricky if you don't know how to market yourself, or your business.

September 16, 200619 yr In front of family hands down! My family constantly hears me practising and my parents pay for my music lessons, exams, take me to lessons and festivals ... I just think it's a great and satisfying way to thank them for everything. The no-intimidation/nerves factor is also a nice plus.... :w00t:
June 15, 200718 yr Neverland. Pan loves it. But I'm sure he much more fancies his own pan pipe music (as he dances to it) I would prefer to play for Hook. He would much more prefer a performance (although he is know to be good at playing the tom-tom)
July 13, 200718 yr Invite people over to your house. When there are too many people to fit in your house, then it's time to find a bigger place, like a barn or something.
