God Creating space

Featured Replies

hello friends,

I had made this music a while back but I'm in the process of making the score and adjustments to the music it self. unfortunately i won't be able to provide the score it self because i made this in logic to sound more real in midi than on score. so I'm having to reinsert all the notes again from scratch in order to make it readable in the software. It will take me a while but i needed to hear every opinion i can get before i finish it.

Everything you hear is fake including the choir. Ewql Gold and choir are used.

here is an image that helped me with the visual music.

Likewise. I think I remember hearing this from the Soundsonline forum. You continue to amaze me with your orchestral creativity. I still think The Love I can't have is my favorite, but I still loved this one. You are in the league of Rolifer and Marius when it comes to film music, and that's saying something. :)

My one critique would be your harmony. Don't get me wrong, you implore fantastic colors throughout, I actually think that is one of your strengths. But what I mean is that I felt it was kind of square, meaning you have a chord per measure. I think you could use a bit more counterpoint when you write to remedy that. Still though, I loved this piece! Great work!

I liked this a lot. Great colors, and orchestration. I am still completely intrigued by EWQL choirs every time I hear it, and once I get something other than Finale, it will be my first additional buy.

My one critique would be that I wish you'd vary the driving pattern more. The entire has a constant pulse, and eventually I became numb because it seemed like your pulse figures were always in the same high register. Except the beginning, where it seemed the cellos gave the pulse. Also, speaking of the high resgister, it is the premier featutre throughout the piece, and I really wanted to hear the focus move around to lower voices more often. I did really enjoy the section (i don't have measures, or times) with the brass choir and percussion feature with the high strings ostinato. I guess I wish it would have been more spread out, instead of...high voices-low voices-high voices-end. It seemed there was always some tinkling or high strings or bells or sopranos that were constantly going, and I began to appreciate that specific color less and less. I'm having a hard time explaining, sorry.

I could get lost in this. I really really want to explore the inner workings of it (aka a score)

You seem to favor a type of harmonic movement but I can't figure out what it is - are you doing a lot of I - bIV? I - iv or I - v? I can't tell.

It was appropriately huge.

i like it very much

Thank you guys! glad you enjoyed it!

wow someone remembered me!..lol thank you! and glad you enjoyed "the love i can't have" music. you raise a very good point about Chord per measure. for some reason whenever i try to simplify, it ends up being a melody with a chord and an occasional harmony of another instrument. Something I'll have to experiment with. thanks again!

Thank you for listening! yes i tend to associate beautiful and innocence with higher notes. specifically with flutes and strings. its a movie score habit that I'll probably need to take notice of next time i make something that size. thanks for pointing it out.

ha ha Thanks! I'm doing the score but its taking me too long. my skills are so rusted its not even funny. i need to go back to the books..lol i'll get back to you on the harmonic movement because the truth is i do a 5 chord and then i start transposeing them and inserting different ones while doing that. Don't even know if its right to write music like that in theory terms but I'm pretty happy.

thanks again!

This is fantastic! I love the middle section, with those awesome horns and trumpet! Man this is great work. Wow. I wish I could write half as well as this!

Wow, this was amazing. I will have to remember your name.

I have one piece of constructive criticism. At the end of the piece you have the choir come back in and then the trumpets start doing there thing and it is really exciting and all, but just one thing could make it unbelievable. After a couple of times repeating that phrase the choir sings you should re-voice the chords and have those sopranos get up there. They should soar. They should be singing something high. Also give that part a little movement. Don't just make the sopranos sing the note in the chord but have them move around sort of like a descant. So, basically write a descant for the sopranos to sing at the end and make it soar.

I also would be extremely interested in a live recording of this piece. I think your sounds are amazing, but they still do not do the size of this piece justice. The sound would be even larger with a full orchestra. It would be amazing.

I WANT A LIVE RECORDING! YES YES YES!

Thank you guys and you have no idea how i want a live recording as bad too!

Thank you for listening and what a great suggestion! i think i ran into range problem with the choir software but i can explorer other ways to have the sopranos soar. i would probably write it in the score. again i absolutely would love the opportunity to have this live played. the most likely problem is the resource that would have to be pulled. a church organ, a full orchestra, a full choir and the fact that I'm not very well known either. hopefully I'll get that kind of opportunity! thanks again!

Have you ever thought about maybe recording just parts of it at a time? Depending on the difficulty of the organ part, you might be able to schedule a time at a big church and maybe pay their organist to sight-read it and record it then. Same with the choir. because it's such short blurbs, you could probably ask a choir director if you know one to have the choir just sight read through it a couple times and then have a decent recording. I suppose the orchestra would be the hardest part, but I think the nice thing, is the fact that it literally just takes asking. To quote an overused cliche "all they can say is No". Maybe find a community orchestra. Of course, you won't have the same sound as you would with (random famous orchestra), but it's a start. And then you can have all the completed sound files and take them to a digital mastering specialist. It's doable through cut and paste.

Regardless, I'll repeat that this is really a great work, and I look forward to more.

Love it. Every bit of it.

I do agree that you favor a certain harmonic. But it's ok, I think everyone does.

May I ask how you made the recording? Do you have a studio?

This composition is brilliant in every aspect!

The sound you have conveyed is beautiful.

Furthermore, you have a similar sense of imagery to myself - lets put it this way, I was drifting away in ecstasy whilst admiring this piece of Music in conjunction with this complimentary image you have so kindly attached.

I've always been intrigued by outer space and you have truly inspired me!

Thank you.

Very nice. Harmony was a bit square though, and only root chords? The choir writing was good but I'm not sure about EWQL Symphonic Choirs' ability to sing words. I don't think the technology is advanced enough here, it sounds fake and distracts from the realism. I'm personally sticking to Ahs and Ohs until some better choir libraries come out.

Oh and cool ending.

Not a bad idea. I already am connected with a 90 choir person leader in new york so i might be able to her and see what she can do. the orchestra part is the difficult part but i might be able to talk to the players i know. the organ part is very easy. its an an 8 finger chord that players for a total of 16 measures. I wouldn't care for recording the organ for real because i can always use the fake one if it comes to recording this music. what i hounstly and truly wish would happen is a live performance of the entire thing. but Let me finish the score, have you all look at it. then God knows what miracles will happen. i hounstly did not expect to think about haveing it performed until i read everyone's reaction. talk about being caught off guard

Nice! Should be put in a movie...
I already listened it for 100 times

Simply marvelous. Simply marvelous.

Thank you guys. I'm very deeply appreciative of the interest in the music and the support! makes me want to go bigger in my next one!..lol

thank you liszt! Glad that i succeeded in giving you that mood. To tell you the truth, space is such an awesome image in one's head. This music is sort of my first attempt to describe space. I really feel inspired to take things further and see what orchestral sound experiments can i achieve so that that space feel even more. sometimes i need visuals or a film..lol but i look forward to it!

thanks mellohorn, i did not make any recording. everything was done in logic 8 using samples. every note was inserted and performed by me, no loops or cheap sound effects. I pride my self in that actually.

Thanks max, the Ewql choir is a long way from perfect but it gets the job done. There is a lot to be explored by it but it needs tremendous amount of time for constructing word structuring and adjusting. it freaking feels like you need a 4 year degree to master it...lol

Thanks everyone! i'm very very encourged by this and the comments and suggestions! great inputs here:thumbsup:

Go BIGGER? Yip.... oh wait! I'm trying to avoid that :P

psst... go bigger!

 i started a new one yesterday to vent out of frustration for trying to notate God creating space music on paper...lol so we will see how big.

Wow! Quite amazing!

I hear some "Elfman" and "Star Trek" in there.?

And by no means a bad thing!

Still very original and wonderful composition.

Very impressive!

I loved your piece The love i cant have. Thought it was 3mins of beauty.

This piece i half liked and half didnt, the starting 3mins are beautifully set up and orchestarted, but then for me the music loses focus, although i loved some of the orchestartion around the 5min mark. After those 1st 3mins i was always waiting for something to happen but for me the music doesnt really change much. It just has some nice orchestration but not really much else in terms of musical invention, which for me the piece really is lacking after those intial 3mins.

You have always have an awesome sound to your works though. Looking forward to the next one.

"God creating space." Interesting title, since space is, by definition, principally void of matter - which according to Biblical sources, existed with God since before creation. The title then becomes a philosophical question, if you choose it to be.

My first reaction to the piece is that it is, to be blunt, unremarkable in terms of its structure and motivic ideas. It's by no means bad - it's just a sound that we've heard a lot before. I also agree with previous reviewers that it loses focus after a while. However, the piece truly shines in one area, and that is its orchestration. You have incredibly interesting timbres at points throughout the piece, and even where the orchestration isn't unconventional, it represents accepted timbral construction of an orchestra very well.

Thank you for listening and glad you liked "the love i can't have" music. This music isn't meant to be a new innovation. i on purpose was exploring old techniques from memory. it came out interesting enough for me. what i learned from this music is what everyone seems to agree on, the orchestration execution that i used and the relation of fake sample sounds in a large music like that. Thank you again and i look forward to hearing your opinion on the next one indeed..(quiet an interesting orchestration music I'm working on here)

Thank you Christopher for taking time to listen to this music. Your absolutely right. technically, God was there before matter. maybe I should've named it God creating matter and planets?

I'm sorry that the music didn't please you. but i do hope i win your opinion on my next one:) thanks again for listening!

"Thank you Christopher for taking time to listen to this music. Your absolutely right. technically, God was there before matter. maybe I should've named it God creating matter and planets"?

:toothygrin:Technically space, planets, stars, matter, dark matter, black holes, supernovas, white dwarfs, red dwarfs, atoms, chemical elements were there before man came on the scene and it was man over the last 8000, to 10,000 that created what is known as religion and therefore where God comes from.:P

But lets not discuss religion lol:whistling: Let music do the talking:)
