Loved the left hand for the piano, although at certain times it became a little repetetive for my taste. I was expecting more virtuoso-level piano parts (I've been spoilt by Rachmaninoff and Liszt :D), but it suited this piece very well.

Absolutely loved measure 291+ and when the orchestra came in, the beautiful culmination and swelling of sound was just magnificent. I had the midi put into GPO for this, but I would just LOVE to hear this performed live, or at least get a recording!

Overall, a damn fine piece. How long did it take from conception to final touches?

It is in a mess! Clean it up!

2: Piano writing.

Pity one have to wait so long before the piano comes in. None the less, the orchestra gives a very good introduction to the themes and motifs. I would love more variation in the piano part (we see mostly arpeggios accompaning a theme or melody). More... fireworks for the piano would be awesome!

3: Music

The quality of the music is good. You already have mastered modulation and theory. Well done on that! But I hate the ending. I would love a bang from orchestra and piano... oh well. That is my opinion. You develop the motifs and ideas very well, but you could have had more spice... you know what I mean? More filling... more... motifs and surprises!

Wow that was really fast, you guys, thanks! Shpena, it took me about a month to write from start to finish, but that was during summer break when I have a lot more time at my disposal! And I am glad you like the part after 291, because I am rather fond of it myself. :) Also if there is any way I could hear the GPO version, I would really love to!

Pieter, sorry about the score. I find dealing with collisions and things on the score very irritating and tedious, but I promise you I am working to clean it up now. Also, you are right that the piano writing is not particularly virtuosic. I didn't intend to create a virtuosic piece, but I also didn't want to create a piano part that is static throughout the piece. So I will work to make the part more interesting. And the ending--I agree, it is rather weak. I will see if I can find it in me too write a bang from the orchestra and piano--(sigh).

I can't really add to what's been said, so I'll agree.

This piece is absolutely brilliant, I would actually listen to this on my ipod if it was done by orchestra.

Again the piano needs to change at the start a bit more and be more virouistic.

But I really did love the chord patterns used at the cadenza bit!

This is probably one of the best compositions I've heard on this website. I haven't even heard the whole thing yet, and I keep wanting to go back to the trumpet solo in the beginning. It was so beautiful. No one on this website usually writes things so delicate.
