Regional forums

Featured Replies

Can we create some sort of regional forums? Where people from various parts of the world can discuss and plan meet-ups, etc. I sometimes feel my youngcomposers is american far-a-way into the a**. :( (yes, i know the server is in America. shut yer bread-maker, you know what i mean) We could start them as very general ones (like ''europe, asia, northern america'') and maybe make them more speciffic if there's a demand (northern europe, western europe, etc)

I dunno, just putting it out there.

The only way to really address this is by creating language packs. I am currently discussing a new main website which will host the network. The network should be the solution to expanding to different countries, and essentially I could upload different language packs on domains that reflect a specific country. I think this can potentially address the problem of expanding worldwide. I can't expand worldwide until I get an idea of success though. I have to start out with my native language.

Perhaps on the new site, we can have regional forums, on the dedicated domain for the country. But the problem is, we are too small right now, and to fragment the site with many forums will dilute the site. I think the only way to address this is if we experience growth.

I read Anders' post as he was requesting some discussion forum sections to be added to our current board where people in America or people in Europe or whatever more specific region could band together, talk about their region, and perhaps plan composer meetings/conventions. Maybe I'm wrong, though? :dunno:

Honestly, it just seems like a waste of time and kind of pointless.

I think I agree. But I want to underline the feeling of Anders. There are more Americans on the forum than non-americans. I think it would be good if people were aware of the fact that there are others as well. But if that's the case, which in my experience is often, there is no problem.

Except the difference in timezone: I'm on-line when all you American people are asleep. And vice versa. Only when I am am awake very late in the night I can talk to people. But I think its fine. There are not enough people to differentiate in location.

Glad to hear you're using this: I plan to keep it much more aggressively up-to-date than has been the case in the past, but don't hesitate to let me know if you find errors or need clarifications.
