You need a free membership to hear it with boxnet to hear it.

It sounds pretty, I love the chord progression.

Gotta ask though, were you writing this for the computer, or for actual performance? Because judging from the massive divisi and piano chords, it doesn't look like the latter would be feasible the way it's written.

From what I saw it looked pretty possible to perform. I liked the sound of it and its simple enough that there really arent any technical or theoretical problems to fix. I must ask though: Why the fast tempo with the slow rhythm? I would half the tempo (to 55) and the note values (ie, all quarter notes become eighths, halves become quarters etc.). I think its a little more common practice and it usually makes thinks easier to read, not to mention cuts down on pages.

It's interesting. It has almost a pop song feel to it, albeit a pop song featuring a huge choir and interesting chord progressions. I suppose that could be because of all the block chords, too. Something about the G chord with suspensions in measure 37 reminds me of a song I've heard before.

Constructive criticism: Nothing huge. I'd say if you were going for a more traditional choral piece, you'd need some voice leading work. But, I don't think you were going for that sort of style here so the block chords work.

I'm not too keen on the tempo change (quarter = 300) bits, either. For one, I don't think you'd ever see that fast of a tempo marking in all of western music (anyone?). Second, that would be impossible to do during a read through. I suggest making it easier for the would-be performers: keep the tempo the same, diminish the note values, and change the meter if you need to. Again, you have some interesting sounds. Keep it up.

Cheers,

FMcG

Thanks for the thoughts! I'll try out some of your suggestions.

I'd suggest using tuplets for the super fast tempo sections. They sound like they are supposed to be triplets to (or maybe 5). I actually thought thats what it was when I first listened to it. I only realized that its a tempo change just now after reading some of the other comments and listening to it again.

An eighth note passage in a brief Quarter=150 tempo change would be much more realistic and feasible as well.

Thanks for the thought! I'm self-taught, so there's a lot of this kind of tempo stuff and technical stuff I don't know, haha! xD

No proplem! Thats why we're here. If you have any questions about theory or any other technical problem let me, or any number of other members here know. We'd love to help!

Really? :O I'll see it I can fix that: sorry i'm such a noob! Dx

Saw this on youtube while viewing another of your works. One comment that I have to say, and I am noticing this on a few of your works, you have vocals on both of these - but no lyrics. Are there lyrics to these? What are they? Also, this piece sounds oddly like the other - is this part of one larger composition?

No, there are no lyrics to these: I may decide to add some later, but I never really intended them for lyrics. I suppose that the other piece you're talking about is "The Suether Girl" where I use a choir again. I had considered them separate, but maybe they would go better together instead of separate? Hmm....thanks for the thought there!

Well, if you plan on an actual performance of this piece it would be good to utilize vocalizations of some type (humming, ooo's, or ahhh's. To just have vocal parts without delineating what you want the vocalists to sing doesn't work well - and Ive hardly seen it in pieces I have sung and studied.
