Minuet For Count Orlox

Featured Replies

This is a genuine minuet in the galant style like Bach's Anna Magdalena minuets. :D

I liked the theme for a while, but then it seemed to become really redundant. I don't know what to really say besides that. Maybe, develop the theme a tad more? Add some sort of climax? I don't know, I think your style doesn't match mine at any level, but if it makes you happy then forget everything I said.

Good luck to ya. :)

I was sure someone was going to say just that, that but the dilema was a brief prototype as the basis, then to extend it & add variants with mere ornaments hoping & did to some degree augment the quality of the very simple initial minuet. Truthfully, it is a minuet reversed & turned upside down for further touches &/or polishings. In Conclusion, there is a lot of bach in this work as far as the truly bach minuets are concerned & not by some unknown Kompozer who did not want to be recognized. Thank You!:D

Very strange piece indeed: you have a unique mind to create such non-standard stuff! It sounds very dignified, and very shifty, as if it won't allow itself to be understood...? Hmm...does that make any sense at all? :O

Thanks again serge, the truth is, the embellishments are extremely cruxial for the cohesion of the piece, unlike most minuets that work even without the fancy decorations, if one were to play this pdf without the ornaments, it would not work as it deserves to sound connected. Thanks again!

This is a very confusing piece. The ornamentation throughout doesn't seem to actually accentuate the melodic material in any way - after a little bit I felt that the constant attempts at chromaticism in the ornamentation was annoying. The ending seems a bit rushed as well.

haha, nice piece. Confusion is good :D

but don't write pedal for harpsichord...

  • Author

Well, i think the pedal for harpsichord was very essential for this piece as if one were playing the acoustic harpsichord in a hall that produces a natural echo, also in measures 76-78 i strived to create a unique cacophonic effect with the pedal before concluding the piece with a strange apostraphy! Thank u!

Does this actually make any sense lol, it looks done on purpose to me.

A lot of the grace notes aren't written correctly as well.

It is imperative for the true Kompozer not only to observe the traditional diciplines but also veer towards a new direction in music because we all have a long way to go to temper music to it's ultimate level instead of persisting limitations on music making the journey of progress even slower than it naturally has to be!
