December 31, 200916 yr To Janice Rodgers, my best cello friend, who passed away dec.23, 2009. You wii be missed! For You
January 1, 201016 yr Author I don't like the midi version of this peice as much, but my recording I liked of my peice was not supported as an upload music file.
January 2, 201016 yr This is the forum for solo piano, you would be much better off uploading in the chamber music forum, which is suitable for instruments, like cello with piano accompaniments. Lovely piece though.
January 3, 201016 yr Wow, this is beautiful! ... I'm sorry about your friend... I think she would be very happy to have such a piece made for her! In measure 40 on, I love the chords you use where you merge an A octave with a B octave, along with the others side by side: it creates a sound of pain very well. I'm going to add this to my favorites list: thank you very much for uploading, this is fantastic!

June 1, 201114 yr Yeah, I liked this too. It's very simple and heartwarming. Particularly liked the bit around measure 46. You must have had a good cellist to play this, and I'm sorry your soundfile didn't work...even so, the MIDI didn't hurt it any. Good job!
June 1, 201114 yr I am sorry for your loss. :( I don't like the midi version of this peice as much, but my recording I liked of my peice was not supported as an upload music file. compress the file into an MP3. .wavs are too large so they are not supported. But there's nothing really wrong with the midi. I'm going to be a bit on the blunt side today, because there's been plenty of positive feedback on this piece, and the feedback you've gotten here is well-deserved. You were going for simple major with a 'sad' atmosphere. You got that. However, it's just so dad-gum simple. And by "simple" in this case, I mean empty. The accompaniment does nothing but outline chords in the absolute most repetitive ways possible. The music is like a sad, expressive cellist who is playing with an expressive but non-creative 2nd year pianist. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a simple feeling to music. Simple music can be the most expressive of all. Here, though, the piano is so busy doing nothing to add to what the cello is doing. And the only part that felt like he was contributing was the one mixture chord you threw in (m.47). You've got tons of parallel motion, you've got quite a bit of doubling which is not recommended when you have two instruments, you've got repeated arpeggio figures over each chord change, you've got a very narrow playing range, and you've got absolutely no interplay between the two instruments. I suppose part of the issue is that the harmonic progression is all the same, so the piano is cornered into sounding like he's static the entire time. It just accentuates the problem. Thank you for sharing! Remember, criticism is what pushes you forward. :) I wouldn't give negative criticism if I thought you couldn't do better next time. Peace -Pete
