Hey everyone im Riverdaeum. I play alot of instruments but I mostly sing and play piano. I also like to write Piano Sonatas and I enjoy mostly Fantasies and Fugues. Im working on a Fantasy-Sonata for a play that someone asked me to write for. Its still in the beginning stages as I have many ideas for this piece.

I have decided to name the piece;

Traurige Phantasie Sonata (in E Minor).

In actual German such a piece would rather be called a Phantasiesonate or Fantasiesonate - Phantasie and sonata shouldn't be separated by a space.

Hi,

I'm João Portela, from Portugal and I'm 16 years old. My passion for video game/film music drove me to music composition. I have the 3rd degree in Musical Theory (in 8th) and the 2nd in Violin in the Musical Conservatory of Oporto (I quit because of violin, since it's a very tough instrument to play :( ). I'm trying to take my first steps in musical composition for piano, quartets or orchestra (my ultimate goal :)). I use Finale for notation.

I'm also trying to be a writer, but I'm aiming for the Medicine course, to be a Physician, since being a successful professional writer or a composer is very difficult...

Welcome! There's a long tradition of physicians being involved in music... good to see a fellow aspiring physician-composer here.

Hello, my name is Samuel, but you may refer to me as Young Maestro. I have taken a great interest in classical music composition, and I would like to start visiting this website for the purpose of learning to compose and having my musical ideas/compositions and evaluated by skilled composers. I hope to hear more from you!

Hi,

My name is Jade_nzgirl, just joined today. My email is jade.nzgirl@gmail.com[/email] and yeah. I'm kind of new here. Understatement - I am new here. I love music, espicially composing my own.

Smiling right now,

Jade. :)

Hi, my name is Andre Gerber...and I am so boring I might as well not type anything and it would make no difference.

I am not really a composer of sorts. I am a programmer (learning to be) and I also dabble in music, but I don't write my own music often. I write musicals, or revues or whatever you want to to call them.

I have only written two so far and I am hoping to expand on my collection.

If you wanna ask anything, jest send me a PM or reply.

PS, who decided on IPB, because whoever did so should be punished. Just kidding, but I prefer SMF anyway.

I am new myself.....you should fix those bbcode errors.

Hi Jade nzgirl and welcome to the board. I moved your post here because this is our designated "Introduce yourself" thread. ;)

Also hi to Andre, whose post was moved here too. Often I see people who are adept at both programming and music, myself being one of them. I'm just listening to some of your musical right now and it's good strong stuff. IPB was pretty much my decision but the site owner (chopin) also had some input.

Also hi to everyone else who has joined recently. It's great to see so many new faces.

This site is looking mighty fine, complements to the webmaster.

I'm new, I've been composing for a while now, but I only consider myself to be composing for a half a year because I'm taking David Lucas Burges Relative Pitch (and Perfect Pitch) course. I'm also learning how to sight read and going through my own kind of timbre training. Well...hello! ;)

Hi everyone

I'm Natalie, i'm 29 and i'm from London, England.

I studied classical music for about 8 years as a child (recorder/piano/guitar) then switched to electric guitar and grunge/punk music in my teens. I've had a few different projects going on throughout the years; i currently have a solo post-punk project going on, called RachelAPP.

Anyway, the more i developped my songwriting, the more i developped my interest in composing classical music. As a child, i made a few attempts at writing some orchestral music but nothing ever got finished.

A couple of years ago, i came up with an idea for a project that would encompass different types of music (3 different styles to be exact). Anyway, i am starting this project with the orchestral part, which i am envisaging like a sort of symphony, albeit with 7 movements.

I am currently working on movement 1 so i am at the start of the project!

I am aware this isn't strictly classical music, in the sense that this is part of a bigger project including other styles of music. But the part i am working on is for a symphonic orchestra basically and is very much "classical" in the contents.

I'm glad i've found this forum, i've read some good advice on here so that's why i've decided to join!

Take care

Nat

Well, I figure I should post here. ^^

My name is Jared, I am 16 years old and I live in the southern United States, in northern Alabama.

I am gay, and just recently came out to my friends (see my topic I posted in the general discussion forum for more details) and I am hoping for good things to come of my decision to inform friends of my different sexuality, and hopefully there will not be much negative response.

I play the alto saxophone in my schools concert band, and in Jazz band I either play tenor or alto. I am learning to play the french horn, to give me a more common "orchestral" instrument under my belt, and also to gain experience in the brass family. I played trumpet for 1 year, but almost completely forgot how to play the instrument (and I am now regretting my decision to discontinue my trumpet studies). Anyway, I hope to learn to play the trumpet, french horn, clarinet, and maybe even the flute, so I have an understanding of each family. Also, I have played percussion (for marching season though) and I have studied mallet percussion moderately. If there is one string instrument I would like to learn, it would be the cello.

I hope to be a band director, probably at the high school level, though I may actually just be a performance major and see where that takes me.

Well, I guess that is all, really. ^^ If anyone has any questions, of course feel free to ask.

Hi, I'm Dave. I'm 29 and living in Scouse Land (Liverpool) UK.

I've been writing/producing music since January 2000.

My user name is also my artist name and was given to me by my radio co-ordinator after our tech guys thought it would be funny re-wiring the radio mixing desk just before it was my show so that the mic fader powered the CD deck, the guest mic powered the PC and vice versa, lol.

I grew up playing the recorder, moved onto an organ then got addicted to the various synthersisers with bigger better sounds. I produce songs of any genre that pops into my head.

D.

Good afternoon. I've been told I'm the devil. For more details, ask others.

And Graham: pouce, auriculaire, majeur, index. Which translates as: thumb, little finger, middle finger, index finger. I've no idea if that's what they actually are, but it's what it brings instantly to mind.

Hey Sam! Welcome to the forum! :)

I have removed the link in your post. If you want to advertise, please do so in this forum. :P

Oh sorry, I wondered where the first post had disapeared too :)

Thank you for the welcoming.

Good day to you

Yeah, it's my fault. I forgot to PM you, sorry. :P

Hehe.. Welcome again

My name is Christopher Dunn-Rankin - I am 18, and a first-year composition major at Oberlin Conservatory. I am mostly a choral composer, but am extending now into more instrumental work. My work since I've been here has been largely atonal, though I am now reaching past it into chromatic tonality and polytonality - two media that I feel are more expressive for myself.

Influences include:

Morten Lauridsen

Eric Whitacre

Pierre Villette

Samuel Barber

Current projects:

Requiem: A chromatically tonal non-liturgical Requiem for SATB choir, Soprano solo, and chamber ensemble

The Monster In My Closet Is In Cahoots With The Monster Under My Bed: An atonal duet for cello and Bb clarinet

The Witch: An atonal duet for soprano and piano; the soprano takes text, while the piano fills in text painting

Hi, My name is James Trickey - I'm 13 years old (DOB: 2nd May 1992) and I have written lots of music.

I came across this site a few minutes ago, while searching for a way to promote my music. My latest works are 2 string quartets (one I wrote on 27th Nov and one yesterday). I would like to share the first String Quartet with some people on this forum!

At the moment, I am having trouble just downloading the files from this site - they don't seem to download - can anyone help me? Also, are there any rules on what types of files to upload on here - does this forum allow WAVE files?

Thanks,

James.

Hello James and welcome,

If you are having trouble downloading files then try saving them to disk first and then opening them. In respone to your other query, we do not allow WAVE files to be uploaded because these would use too many resources.

''James Trickey (13 yrs)''

You plan on becoming any older? hehe...

That said, welcome!
