Hello. I am Shaun, 27, from East Tennessee, and I have a long list of composers I like. I'd rather just point to my favorite works: "Prelude and Liebstod" from Tristan und Isolde, "Let Us Sleep Now" from Benjamin Britten's War Requiem, World Symphony by Mahler (if for nothing else, the number of people it takes to perform it), "Adventures With E.T." by John Williams, "Harmonielehre" by John Adams, several moments of Penderecki's St Luke Passion, "The Pines of Rome" by Respighi (particularly the Pines by the Catacombs, because that's how I roll... ... .. . ok, not really), and many more. I can't pin down one piece I like more than any other, but can any of us?

Oh, and I have a masters degree in composition. Fun, fun. uhm... anything else?

OH! You can listen to some of my work at Shaun Salem - ReverbNation

I have to post more of my works, but you've got about 30 minutes of stuff you can listen to on there, and I'll keep putting it up as I can.

Welcome here, damuziqman and Antiatonality!

Somehow I get the feeling that with a forum name like yours, Antiatonality, some heated discussions will ignite once more ;) Nevertheless, stick around and have fun!

Hey I'm Xyluss (real name. it's Greek.) I am here to broaden my horizons when it comes to the music out there. I'm in Love with music and want to hear what everyone in the world has to offer.

I'm Emma and I'm not saying my age but I'm young, let's say. I play the keyboard and I self-teach. Nice to meet you all. :)

Hello Young Composers,

I'm Uwe Warneke - a soundpainter from Northern Germany. Soundpainter - what's that? :sadtears: For more information you can read my forum's profile (and there you find some links to mp3s of my pieces). If this is interesting for you, you can visit my page

COMPOSITION of the SEASON. Welcome :D

I'm looking forward to some interesting discussions in this forum, about our different styles of composing, about being a composer in the times of web 2.0 - and ... and. Glad to meet you here.

All the best

welcome! ;)

COMPOSITION of the SEASON.

Uwe - I hope you will soon enlighten us to your "soundpainting". I checked out your profile and website, and your use of the term differs greatly from my experience.

I've only come across 'soundpainting' as a term used in free-improvisation.

;)

Indeed, my definition differs from yours. To me Soundpaitings are the works of a soundpainter. A soundpainter like me does not exactely feel and work like a musician, he is more interested in harmonies than in mesures. I try to paint with notes not obeying the traditional or/and modern composing rules strictely. I even do not need to perform my guitar seriously, because my note editor 'plays'. Calling me a composer is not true, I haven't studied composing. But on the other hand my music is classical orientated, difficult to play, as guitarists said to me.

My music is improvisation, but not free.

Greetings Uwe

as long as its audible...

Hi,

I'm rosen, I'm from New York. I have played Guitar since few years.

And also want to learn how to play flute and drums. I hope I will get good knowledge from this forum.

Ave!

I'm Cody from Virginia (Appalachia). I've played the sax for several years now, and I'm trying to become an avid composer. I love The Count of Monte Cristo so that's my alias. :)

Hi, I'm Marcelo, from Chile... I've been playing winds so long time ago, and I started to compose a few years ago, I'm not yet any Yokko Kano (at all xD), but I love to learn every day new things about composition, harmony, and everything that could lead me to a more artistic creation. So, I hope I can learn new things in here. And I hope to meet every kind of compositors. And well... that. If there's an almacenation source for user's upload I could be showing some of my compositions...

that :)

Hello. I'm Ian from the USA (Texas), an have been playing cello rather avidly for four years in (and out of) school, and play some other instruments (including the ukulele) on my own time. I've recently been delving into music theory and trying my hand at composing and am hoping to learn from this community.

Hi,

I'm Paco, tolerable pianist, rather improvable saxophonist, and dead serious apprentice composer. I'd love interested people -and surely interesting, for we sort of wind up gathering together those who have a common passion- to listen to some of my stuff, so I get more a wide view of it. Also I'm quite keen to see what people round there are doing, for that seems a great part of the matter at all, and give my modest contribution to those who may be in similar situation.

In a few days time some piano bagatelas will be posted where apropiated. Reviews will be most thanked.

Welcome new members, stick around, this is a great community packed full of skilled composers who normally offer advice free of charge ;)

Tom from Colorado (USA) here. I'm a software engineer by day and an aspiring guitarist/keyboardist and (future)composer by night. I'm looking for a place to chat with other people about this mysterious craft that I've become involved in.

Tom, where in Colorado do you live? I live in South Denver :D

I'm in the Springs.

Hello Composers,

I think its nice to see that there actually is a good forum which members are dedicated to Composing and helping each other out.

Something about myself: Studied at the Conservatory at Arnhem specialized in classical guitar(also jazz and Flamenco) and gratuated in Composition.

I studied much big composers compositions and few of my favorites, Bartok, Ligeti, Stravinsky, Bach (and a lot of other Baroque Composers), Prokofiev...and i can go on for a while.

There's was just one big surprise, one of which i've never really took notice or heard in school. Nowadays its al Cubase, Logic and a lot of incredible sound producing systems...

Great stuff, butt these programms need the time and studie to get a satisfactory result.

I use Logic pro studio 8, Cubase Studio 4 (Komplete, Kontakt, Vienna and EWQL Gold)

Did a few payed assignements, and have some good contacts with studio's and tv producers.

Looking forward to an interesting and longtime stay on this forum, and hopefully can help some Composers and hopefully you can help me:)

Greetz,

Sebastiaan

Hi, my name's Alan, I haven't actually studied music, but I've taught myself to play guitar. I mainly write electronic/experimental stuff on FL Studio 8 on my computer, though. :)

My name's Philip Bradbury. I live in Shreveport, Louisiana. I just got a Master of Music in Composition and Clarinet Performance from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Here's my website: PHILIP BRADBURY

Hello,

My name is Ben Nelson, and I've been writing music since I was young. I have asburgers syndrome, so my music might seem to be a little different than most music - but I like it that way.

I listened to a few songs on this website and found some to be kind of similar - I was pretty happy, so I decided to join.

All of my music is done in the key editor of Steinberg Cubase, and I use Reason for my instruments. Some of my songs have vocals, but most of the time, I just use Cubase and Reason.

Here is one of my new harp songs:

I'm a sophomore in high school. I'm trying to learn th loops of composition but I'm still stuck right now. I play flute, oboe, and various percussion.

Hello there, I'm Miguel (though I go by Dash online). I've been composing music since I was about 16 (I'm 20 now), played Trumpet for a few of my High School's music programs (Jazz Band, Symphonic Band and Marching Band). Sadly, I gave up the Trumpet and picked up the Guitar (though I'm not too great with it anyways).

Normally, I compose music for Video Games. I write within the realm of Rock, Trance/Techno and Orchestra. Most times, it's a combination of the three.

Greetings to everyone. I'm Richard (informally I am Ricky). I have been playing guitar for six years now. Unfortunately I have not the ability to further my instrument-knowledge. I'd love to learn how to play the piano and too the violin and/or cello etc. I compose rock and classical pieces.

With classical-pieces I have no choice but to make use of midi-sequencers. (More specifically Anvil Studio)

Typically, with rock, I really try to stray from the conventional structures of verse-chorus-verse-chorus etc. so I suppose I can say that I do progressive rock. It's much more interesting.

I live in South Africa (am white, too. Be it secondary.). I am 17 years of age and so there-for still in school. I do home-schooling..be that the catalyst for me being a recluse.

Anyway. HI! I look forward spending time here.
