String quintet + BEATS

Ostinato Quintet

Welcome to the forums Papa Blister! I must admit that when I heard the opening strings, I was worried for what the "BEATS" were going to sound like. However, it worked out really well for the most part. You didn't overuse the electronic sounds and the piece grooved pretty well. There was a few moments where you explored some dissonance, but I would have liked to hear you spice it up a little bit more and get some real tension in there for a more intense moment at some point. Would have enjoyed more of a climax in the piece but the grooviness of the piece is cool in itself, if a bit repetitive.

Haha, I thought I recognized the title...what's up Aaron!

Why not the live version?

what up man! yeah maybe i should put up the live version.

Hey this is pretty funky man... I loved it... a truly masterful use of the quartet... really can't say that anything bothered me.... really modern and hip piece :) good job!

this is cool :) i love the opening string chords leading to the livier part and very good choice of beats in the faster part.. seems to blend very nicely. reminds me of Bjork a little to combine acoustic and electronic like this well. the string writing is also interesting especially the pizz section (which i cud envisage being a little faster - to keep the electricity up- even tho u wanted contrast there). it is a gamble to mix styles like this and you won the bet for sure. ;)

It gets off to really good beat! I like the way the strings mesh with the beat too: it fits really nicely. The use of the pizz. felt a little bit unnecessary and pointless at the place you put them about 1 minute through, and that part served to slow down the piece rather than build it up! But the overall tone was good ;)

I agree with Ben: a point where things get really heated up would have been nice, as a climax. The piece seems to want it :)

Thanks for sharing! :D
