Here's another short town theme - this one's light-hearted and kind of cute

CLiCK ME!

Oh yeah, and here's a random, short creepy cue as well. Just 'cause.

Yes, yet another one for this mod. This time, an awesome apocalyptic march called - creatively - The March of the Apocalypse.

Enjoy!!

March of the Apocalypse

Hay Marius... I promised I would look at this. And I have over the past week. I love it... amazing work. I think that if it was used in a game I would definately enjoy listening to it!!

In short---

10/10.

(sorry I couldn't be more technical... I need a score for that)

Thanks very much, M!

I appreciate it :)

Wow Marius, beautiful new work! Very impressive...dark :) I love it!

Hey...yes, I know, lots of new things in a short span of time, but I needed to catch up.

So anyway, here's an inn theme! Enjoy

Hey everyone!!

Here's the first piece I made with my new sound library. It's an atmospheric background piece for an evil cave. It's supposed to make your skin kind of crawl :)

Enjoy and let me know what you think!

Cave of Spiders

Thanks, Songjun :P Actually, you're not the first to mention those high notes. They were intended to be piercing, but I agree that they're a bit too loud in some parts so I think I'll tone them down.

Thanks for the suggestion ;)

Hey everyone,

Here's another track for this game mod; I'm not sure exactly what setting it will be used for yet, but it'll be on the soundtrack in any case so enjoy :P

Walking the Moonlight Path

  • Author

Bump?

hey Marius,

I liked your walking the moonlight path. It had an atmospheric feel in the beginning, then later it had a march feel. To me, it was like, hmm how do I explain it. the atmospheric part lead to the march, almost as if it was like the characters were deciding whether or not they were gonna march during the atmosperic part, then when the march started, they were on their way. It was very easy to imagine some type of visual to go along with the music.

the cave of spiders was very fun to listen. Were those bartok pizzicato's? It was like during the pizz. the spider was creeping up behind your back, but when the high pitch noise (cymbal?) came, its stood still as if it werent doing anything. almost comedic concept, but very effective.

Anyways, I enjoy listening to any one of your pieces, they always have a good feel to them, not that my opinion would or should matter, but they are always fun to listen to.

Thank you kindly for your reply, cain. You are as qualified as any other to comment on my work - the listener's impression is the best commentary I can receive. :P

Cools beans dude. But for real, you have to give me some comp lesson. haha. (joking, but i wouldnt mind some, i can sure use some help)

PM me and we can see about working something out :w00t:

Genius!! Pure, immaculated GENIUS!!!

I loved every single atmosphere you brought up with your music. :)

In terms of atmosphere I think the cave of spiders and the forest were the best.

In melodic terms I especially liked the inn theme!

True skill is able to make others feel JEALOUS!!!!!

Hats off, gentlemen, a genius... :glare: (As if that was unknown around here... :shifty:)

And Nico, you said in the "YC, the Poetic Epic" thread that Marius didn't rhyme with anything, it does: Genius. ^^

  • Author

hahaha, thank you very much Berlioz! :shifty:

Glad you enjoyed them; though I expect Nico will be furious to discover that you've found a rhyme which he couldn't! :glare:

This doesn't deserve to be on page 2.

I have some updating to do with this thread, but to start things off I offer a couple of very short cues; one for a victory of a good-aligned character and one for the victory of an evil-aligned one.

Good Victory - eSnips, share anything

Evil Victory - eSnips, share anything

Another couple of brief updates. First, a swampy cutscene cue:

Swamp Cue - eSnips, share anything

Second, a dark town theme that builds off of an existing little snippet of mine. This one's still under construction, but I'll probably get a chance to finish it soon enough:

Dark Town WIP - eSnips, share anything

I really hope you're charging for this... because there's a point where a hobby eventually becomes a profession, and you passed that point a long time ago. This literally sounds like the stuff you'd find in a commercial video game...better, actually.

Oh, and excellent job with the mixing. It sounds like it's being played live... a skill I could only dream of. ;)

1 more thing:

I was reviewing your previous work in this thread and you should be careful about how much reverb you're using. It could be that you have already fixed this, cause the latter tracks are okay, but just be aware.

I heard the dark town theme long ago. Just heard your swamp cue. Again, it sounds very professional. Interesting effect you used at the beginning. The booming percussion also fits really well with everything, and you mixed it into the piece well, without making sounding too loud (which I often hear in other pieces).

My favourite point was when the strings came and played those sliding thingys. Great stuff.

Okay, so it's been ages since I've updated anything here. Reason being that the project has kind of been on hiatus, but it's all up and running again and I've started writing more tracks for it, so here are a couple of new ones just to revive this place a bit *blows dust away*...

Hell March

Lurkwood Ambience 1

Enjoy!

Very nice. I was listening to the ones in the OP and thinking "wait a minute, this doesn't sound like Marius' usual quality. . ." Then I looked at the date. :P You've improved so much through the years, it's pretty inspiring. The new sound libraries help too.

Loving both of those ^. Great use of effects, they really set the mood.

  • Author

Thanks, Reives!! Yeah, the date really does make a huge difference. At this point I pretty much have to re-vamp the entire soundtrack. Start from scratch and work with my new skills and equipment. That's fine though, since I still have almost all of the thematic material to work with.

I'm very glad you noticed the effect usage, they were quite precisely crafted to get the right atmosphere in there. There's a little bit of electronic processing in both but I wanted to keep the orchestra as raw as possible.
