Some basic questions about finale

Featured Replies

So i started composing recently, but i really don't know what i'm doing. I have a couple questions (im using finale 2007, if it matters)

1 : How do i add bars to the end of a piece? i seem to be limited to having a thirty bar piece until i can fix this.

2 : how do i add more parts to a piece?

ps: sorry about any bad english i may have, im from quebec.

Just to clarify, to provide the best possible response: are you using the full version of Finale? Or is it Printmusic, or Notepad...or otherwise?

It's the full version (i do think). I'm in studio view if that matters.

Okay....

I don't know studio view, but assume it's the same as the others.

There should be "add measures" listed under the <Edit> menu.

For adding "parts" I assume you mean more instruments, right? For that you need to be in the "Staff Tool" (looks like a treble clef) and then there should be a <Staff> menu where you can add "new staves" which will give you a new instrument part.

...

Another thing to do next time would be to press <F1> anytime you have a question.... ;)

There's no option for adding mesures under the edit menu. Even if i switch to another view it isnt there. The staff adding worked perfectly though, so thanks for that.

Double click the measure tool.

Also, there IS an add measures option available under the edit menu.

How are you adding the staff? If you use the staff tool and click on New Staves (with Setup Wizard) under the Staff menu, you should have no problems. You can also try going to Instrument Setup under the Midi/Audio menu and try to change channels there (I think that's there in 2007).

Ah. That's a 2007 thing then...

...help?

Yes! There is a help function... press <F1> and use the manual to answer all your questions!! :)
