simple beginnings

This is pretty good for a "simple beginning". How long have you been writing? I would suggest modifying the arpeggios (the high notes) in the beginning and towards the end of the piece, so they concord with the chords you're playing in the left hand, unless you want the slightly dissonant effect it produces. I think that you should also get some development in there, maybe by varying each section's melody a bit each time you repeat it, or using different arpeggio patterns.

Roobie,

Thanks for posting this work and welcome to YC! I agree with what was said above - you need to loosen up your arpeggiations and try newer accompaniment patterns. The arpeggiation obscures at times your melodic working here. That said, it'd be easier to comment with a score.

Are you using a notation program?

Hi Roobiedoors and welcome to YC :) I think that your little piece could sound nice with some slower tempo and some reverb, and rubato. I think the part in the middle of the piece is interesting, I'm not that thrilled with the trills though, I think you overdo them a bit. All in all interesting, my advice shall be "less is more" My very most hated saying in the entire world, which sadly however makes good sense sometimes.

I would suggest either getting a better version of Finale or switching programs, I tend to hate Finale Notepad. Does it allow you to save a MIDI file in File>Save as... ?
