Nilay's Dream

Featured Replies

A lot has already been said about this piece. You don't have to comment/review if you heard it before in the old forum. I just wanted to upload it on this new forum. Also a lot of new members probably didn't hear it.

The uploading is not working for me. I do not know why. I just can't upload. You can listen to it when I sort this thing out.

EDIT: I have been able to upload it. Enjoy.

Very hectic, but in a good way! It amazes me how something so random-seeming has to be carried out perfectly, and you did it extremely well! Great orchestration and flow especially.

Is this a live recording? :D It sounds awesome! Good job.

This was played by London symphony orchestra and recorded in Abbey Road, 2007. It was a prize of a competition by Notion software.

This is really pleasant. Reminds me a lot of old film music. Congrats on getting an LSO recording!

I think he cannot post the score, a rights issue maybe ...

Hey Inal, I didn't know this work in the old YC, and this time I saw it because I have my own piece currently in orchestral ...

Sounds very nice, specially with a real orchestra playing your stuff :) congratulations for composing this, and for geting this performed and recorded.

The harmonic language is complex but clear, that's something a rarely find here, complex and confuse yes, simple and clear yes too, but complex and clear...

Still I think it needs a few more drastic dynamics, like more ppp or fff segments, and a linear segment from time to time, and could be longer, but those are only my thoughts.

One way I can tell that I'm listening to a great piece of music is that I begin to suffer from a severe attack of jealousy. I say to myself: "Now, why couldn't I have thought of that?" Congratulations on a job well done, Nightfly, and I'm looking forward to listening to your music on the Grammophone, EMI, and RCA Victor labels in the near future.

Celloman, that's an excellent way to put it. I immediately came to the same realization.

Nightfly, fantastic orchestration. Lovely, beautiful ideas. I like how you experiment with so many chord colors. Quite moving. Thanks for posting this.
