April 24, 201015 yr This is my most ambitious work so far. I tried to compose this in sonata-form but along the way it kind of drifted into some kind of free-form. I was inspired by Scriabin's Fantasy in B Minor Op. 28, although I think one of my themes sounds a bit like pop music as well. Anyway, any criticism is welcome and enjoy the work!Ballade "Struggle" Ballade Ballade

Ballade "Struggle" Oh it sounds very interesting. I do like Scriabin!
April 26, 201015 yr this has great moments. especially the first theme (and the development of it) I really liked. Overall there is maybe a bit to much material, but that will be the influence of a fantasia But it makes it a bit unclear to oversee the structure as a whole; is that the struggle? There a many harmonic interesting moments, which I enjoyed. But underneath there is a lot of V-I progression hidden. So I felt it was maybe a bit less like skriabin as you wanted? (note the final chord, I disliked the picardian...) I did not like the theme starting at 83, a bit too sweet for my taste. The 3rds are doubled (2nd beats in the 1st and 2nd ms), which is slightly annoying, may I would alter the first D# in a C# or B... at 94 is the poppy part starting? I did not like that either. There seems to be a other type of harmony behind it. love the recap btw 107 of the midpart of the A-theme some final remarks: The opening is like a melody in octaves. I think the chords in ms 10 and 15 could use an added low note because I think it makes the melody better. giocoso in ms 167 really promising piece, keep up the good work!
April 26, 201015 yr I really enjoyed this, Ox! :D --I love the development of the piece, and as Jr. Cramer said, the first one is, I think, the best of them ;) --I'm not crazy about how you develop the piece at times, though: I like how you went from the first theme to "tragic, but the sudden switch from "tragic" to "sweet" felt obligatory rather than inspired, like it was just "time to change things up". But then the way you went back to tragic was decently done, so all in all, it's just good to be careful about how you transition themes at times. --Measures 37-43: are those notes even playable? I have doubts, because it's as though both hands are going at completely different tempos with the triplets and the 16th notes, and I'm not sure that the human brain is even capable of playing that  But maybe there are people who can play that, somehow. Thanks for sharing, this was really enjoyable, overall  I'll give it an 8/10, because I like many of your themes, although when put together there's an overall feeling of certain disconnection to them.
