Indian Summer

Featured Replies

This is one of my first compositions. It is a piece I wrote for Flute and Cello. It is intended to portray an Indian Summer, a brief warm weather interlude in the middle of fall/winter.Also, I apologize that it is only available in MIDI. I haven't had it recorded.

Indian Summer

Hi, there, wtneylon, and welcome to Young Composers! :D

--Interesting piece you have: I like some things about it, like the atmosphere, and your capturing of the feeling of foreign "warmth" with your weird progressions and grace notes. And nice trills at good places :)

--I'm not crazy about how little the piece changes over the course of the entire 4 minutes: after a while, it starts to really wear down. Even though the slight change at about 3:00 or so is ok, it really is too similar to the previous part. Some real contrast (with a different rhythm) would be nice: maybe they have a dance around the fire the celebrate the coming of this warm time? Something to that effect

Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed this! Overall, I will give it a 7/10 for it's atmosphere and good use of techniques, and also taking into account the overall flatness.

thank you so much for your feedback!

the section at about 3:00 is actually written as a jig and was intended to sound like a sort of festive dance.

Thank you again for the review.
