Piano Preludes

Featured Replies

The preludes are an exploration of polytonality. One hand moves up around the circle of 5th while the other moves down.

Great work. I think the way you used the circle of fifths for harmonic counterpoint really works well. You have a lot of lush chords that have an impressionistic feel to them, but you still manage a progression that makes sense. I think that #8 is my favorite.

I look forward to listening to more of your work.

Wow. I am going to bump this. This is a nice set of works. Really interesting!

I think I remembered commenting on this, but the forum seems to have proved me wrong. In any case, I find this very interesting, polytonality having been exploited in a relatively consonant style (though some really piercing and pungent dissonances would have made my day). Not much to say about the actual material, I enjoyed this. Good work :santa:

This is a rather interesting piece. Good idea, nice harmonies, good material. I think you've done a fantastic job at doing what you wanted to do. However, I'm not sold on the style of notation. Why not just take away the key signature. Whether or not there is one the performer will still be able to tell what key he is in. Having two keys present at one time, will, at least in my opinion, be extremely confusing for the performer. Reading the Bb minor while at the same time reading in B major will most likely be a hinderance to the performer in practice... I'm not sure he'd like that very much. Nice work, though, it's a solid composition.
