The Hop

Hey guys,

This is a fast hip hop track that my friend and I wrote a couple of days ago. It's going into a friend's vlog so technically it's considered "Film" music ;) Upbeat was the main criterion for this piece. I say we have that in buckets, maybe bathtubs.

That is the best bunny picture ever.

I don't even remember the music because the bunny was so cute.

Okay, I lied, I do remember the music. The piano reaaaally bothers me. That sound is just ouch on the ears. The rest of it really doesn't sound much like hiphop at all though — this is pure Eurodance. Which I like, don't get me wrong. So yeah, nice melodic stuff and the groove is solid, but that piano just sounds like a razorblade q-tip assault for me. :(

Razorblade q-tip you say? I was trying to avoid Bosendorfer but I might have gone too far in the other direction. I'll work on that.

True, there's more of a Eurodance feel to it. At least a dance feel. I think we started out with hop-hop and gradually drifted East...across the atlantic. The original idea was that we could break the piece up into choruses, verses, and prechoruses and have someone rapping or singing on top. That's still possible, but as an instrumental, definitely more dancey.

lol wow Marius the whole razor blade q-tip thing doesn't sound to pleasant lol If I was any younger that comment may have been nightmare inducing. I like the song a lot! But I'm afraid it's not hip hop. Well it isn't hip hop, but you could make almost anything into a rap song! rofl @ it started off as hop-hop. Marius sure is blunt. But I suppose that's the most efficient way to get an idea across. So deal with it John. haha Im just kidding! What software did you use to make this one? Btw, I like the piano too. I think it needs to be in unison with another instrument though, (On that's a little heavy and full sounding) because it sounds oh, so lonely. Later! Drue

Oh and how about a nice wah wah sounding synth simple melody in the beginning. Well that was difficult to describe lol. One sec, Ill sing it for you. Whats that? Cant do that either? lol

For the piano doubling, were you thinking something like a french horn or trombone or even synthy alternatives of those?

Wah wah like a wah wah pedal for a guitar? Wah wah like always on the offbeats?

Oh John, Im not really good at this sorta thing :s lol But Ill try anyway...I was thinking of a synthy version of a french horn. Yeah, in any case it would be a synth. The first time around the piano by itself is fine (IMO lol) but as the power of the song increases, I think it should be more full. Im getting an inspirational song and rap (light, medium speed, not gangster hehe) vibe from the song. And as if the singers/rapper starts to belt it out or get really passionate that enveloping feeling you get from the french horn ((now synthefied)) along with the beat , will just burst out of nowhere and almost overtake the performers, just almost, for an epic climax followed by a resolution however you might like it. Oh and forget the wah wah thing, that was way out of my league to try to explain. Thanks for trying to understand! : Drue
