A New Kind of Freedom

Featured Replies

This work is a short cue for my masters submission to USC.

A New Kind of Freedom

Solid track, Internal Methods.

Your samples sound pretty good although your strings sound a little too wavy as if they're hairpinning every note. I'm talking about 0:59 onwards. It's not very believable phrasing.

Neat chord at 1:07; definitely spices up the colour.

Does this accompany any video or did you write it with intention of just being badass?

Last comment, make sure the actual submission doesn't chop off the ending like that.

Otherwise, solid track, fine writing, and a pretty good mix.

Good luck on the submission!

-John

Nice!

Personally, I would have liked to hear more bass, especially starting at 0:41, maybe with some double basses playing eighth notes, to give it some more oomph all the way up until 0:57. I'm also not a big fan of the chord you use at 1:17.

Anyways, that's just my feeling. I think it's great though!

Thanks for the tips guys! I like your idea about the double basses Bergman and will take this into account. Also, as far as the abrupt ending I apologize as I didn't intend it that way, but I'm still learning many thing about Sonar 8 producer and how it renders audio. The strings are ewqlso which are ok, but I recently just started using LASS, which I would definitely say is worth every amount of praise it has received so far. Take care and I'll check out some of your composing. Thanks again!

Hey Internal Methods,

I have to say: I like the electronic sounds and the percussion. However, the strings are somewhat boring to me. You don't really show of a cool melody, and I can't really identify a real progression in the piece. You also loop quite some instruments, which is fine ofcourse, but also increases the "boring"-factor to me. Now don't take this personal, since I think you compose well, but I think you can make this a lot better. So I hope you can do something with this. I agree on the fact in taking some double bass in the piece, but I think you should first try to have an aim where this piece is going.

Kind regards,

Hugo
