The Lonely Traveler

This is an old piece that I thought I'd share with you. it's actually one of my first sorta finished pieces. looking at it with fresh eyes, there are a couple of improvements I could make (for instance, I feel the guitar gets boring after a while, it needs a little exploring). But over all I'm pretty happy with it.Also not sure if I'm satisfied with the title, but it'll have to do for now.also I should stop playing around with the genres here. I never know what to classify my music as. never been good at that...

Hey Redajin! Welcome to YC!

Neat piece, here. I agree that the guitar gets a little too repetitive. There's a lot more you could do with it. For starters, why not give it some other chords to play over? Right now, it's just the same melody. It totally has the power to take the piece anywhere harmonically. You can also try giving it the melody sometime. That'll provide some variety to the texture and colour of the piece. For me, I'd experiment with the guitar starting on F sometimes instead of A, and explore that chord. From there, you can any other chord that sounds nice. Moving around a bit would be good though.

I think your lines can be a little bit more independent of each other. At 0:24, for instance, the guitar, violin, and piano all seem to moving with a very similar rhythm. It's a lot more fun when we have the lines play around with each other a bit more. You could try a call and response between the instruments, for example. Or, if you' just write the lines so that they don't all have the same rhythm but instead, each fill in parts of the bar with their own little lines, it will be awesome.

Good writing, Redajin. I look forward to hearing your more current pieces.
