Trio Sonata in E Minor: Giga

Featured Replies

Well, after writing my simple variations in E minor, I decided to try something more challenging. I have written a Giga that I think I am going to include in what will be my first trio sonata of my first opus! I have put a TON of work into this in order to make it interesting and yet sound as authentically baroque as possible.

Please listen, take a look at the music, and give me some feedback so that I know I am on the right track (I am thinking about making it longer).

Thanks.

Wow, Hamoohaha. That's pretty amazing work!

You nailed the baroque style. I like your sequences and harmonies. Your structure was also spot on.

Longer could work, but your piece works nicely by itself right now.

Good luck with writing your first Sonata and first Opus!

Peace on Earth,

Nice! Although in reality it's very repetitive, it doesn't come off as such aesthetically because of the motion contrasted by occasional stops. You could make it longer. I'd suggest making the developmental episodes a bit more involved.

...Erm, but isn't it "gigue?"

Also, make sure you put in articulations and dynamic indications. I know a lot of baroque pieces don't have anything other than f and p, but you're a 21st century composer. =P Act like it.

It's "Gigue in French, "Giga" in Italian. Since the movement is in the Italian style as opposed to the French style, I gave it the Italian title.

Thanks for the critique!
