Brass Quintet No 1: 'Tango'

A great tango, by all means! I would have shortened it, though, or modulated towards the middle point to maintain interest until the end. Great work. :Phones:

Obviously there's not going to many problems with this as you're finishing your B.A. in music and thus have been educated on what works and what doesn't. The few things that I would've changed were pretty much already mentioned by ParanoidFreak, especially the thing about modulation. I thought that the main melody was repeated probably 1 to many times, as the climax would be stronger if it only happened once, and the statement of it in 35 kinda felt like an early ejaculation, if you know what I mean. Additionally if you had another section with a different feel, you might be able to have a longer piece, even though it sounds complete how it is (it's just a short piece to justify the ensemble).

So this is a great tango, as PF said. But why would I listen to this (unless I knew you), over many other great tangos? As you're already an experienced composer (this piece as evidence), it might be time to start dealing with cultivating an individual style. I haven't listened to any of your other music (but I will), so I might just be being ignorant, sorry if I am.
