Under the Wolven Moon

Experimental song with wolf howling and a thunderstorm.Composed in Cubase 5 using EWQL for the instrumets.

Under the Wolven Moon

Very nice, excellent atmosphere. The thunderstorm could have used some more bass to really break through in my opinion.

Somehow wolf howling and music reminds me of Twilight Princess. :)

Definite Twilight Princess feel.

That harp coming out of the timpani around 0:30 was badass.

The wolf howl could be mixed a bit better. It was very quiet, as if it was ashamed. Same thing with the thunderstorm; too timid.

Neat piece. Why not extend it and turn up those sound effects?

Nice work, Hylander!

Nice!!

The start was pretty sweet, I think that the flute suffers from that 'CD looping effect' - maybe consider changing that patch. You did a good job of incorporating the wolf howls - really cool orchestration too :)

I think that you need to do some careful sequencing work to get the realism. Apart from that pretty nice!!

Thanks for sharing :D

I really like the first half of the piece, while it is calmer, I don't like the second half because I think the strings are too loud, and I can't hear that lovely ostinato in the harp. I think you really made a strong emotional impact in the beginning, it works well with the title, it instantly gave me the feeling of being somewhere in the open at night. I would just rewrite the latter part string line to not be so in your face, maybe a high string line with cello counter melody, but something really subtle. Also celesta would make a fine addition to creating a night atmosphere, maybe just a figure here and there. Oh, yeah, you might want to get some reverb on this, preferably something with impulse responses to make it sound more consitent. Great work and welcome to the forums! Hope you enjoy your time here.
