Spell checker is back

Featured Replies

We used to have one of these ages ago but it had to be discontinued due to incompatibilities when we upgraded the board software. However, it seems there has in fact been an up-to-date one available since January or thereabouts...

It should work with both quick reply (click the "Spell Check" button) and full reply (click the spellcheck.gif button to the right of the Font and Size menus).

Nice work.

However, I can't see it in the full reply mode.

Btw, is it possible to add the feature to the edit box.

Might save a little time maybe for mods wanting to fix up posts.

yay

On other news, the spell checker sucks.

It said I spelt 'get' wrongly, because it came up with the g as a separate word.

It did that with another word as well. Let's see if it does it again.

A special thanks to you.

Well according to spell check you don't exist ;)

And neither does this emoticon,

I think i'll like this thing....

It's just to the right of the Font and Size menus, as I specified in my original post.

Here's a screenshot to help:

And by edit box, do you mean quick edit? It might be possible to add it to that but it would take a lot of work, because the edit box is not produced from templates, it is produced directly from Javascript, so the scripting would need to be edited. I might have a go at some stage, but don't get hopeful.

It doesn't flag the word "get" as spelled incorrectly for me, I imagine you must have typed it wrongly or something. By the way, extra words can easily be added to the database (which already contains over 65,000 of them, I might add).

It wasn't there when I first posted, but it's there now.

Yeah, I meant quick edit. It's not really neccessary though, because it doesn't take much effort to go into full edit.

I actually didn't type it wrong. It was 'get'. The spellchecker came up with 'get' - just like that.

It hasn't done it since though, but I promise you it was correct.

A small problem that I can see might arise is that people might add incorrect spellings of words to their database.... oh well.
