October 15, 201015 yr A short and simple fugue (2 part armony) I wrote some time ago; it doesn't follow completely the fugue structure. Baroque style.Camel Fugue Camel Fugue
October 17, 201015 yr Author 1.- Thanks for your comment, I think I need criticism and I appreciate it. I'm a begginer, a student. And I did it some time ago. 2.- When I composed it, I was thinking of a necklace with a camel. 3.- I will try to fix the errors you pointed out, but I'm afraid that going over the whole thing detail by detail might be more time-consuming than doing it all over again.
April 13, 201114 yr No need to be so hard on yourself, yea sure you have a lot to learn, who doesn't. This is actually a place to learn from each other, get some feedback, not only to show off "masterworks" Anyway, I didn't dislike it as much as john bucket although I do agree with his commentary. Just pick one or two things you want to change analyze this element in other fugues and write another one, it's all a matter of practice.
April 14, 201114 yr Don't take it out on yourself so much, as said. I don't think it's complete crap. It's just in need of some change. I think it needs to use some of the chromatic stuff you used. It would really spice things up. If the midi were better I could say more, but for now I'd leave it aside, start doing other things, then come back to it. If or when you do, make some of those changes. One other thing: Key changes. A bit too abrupt for me. I'd have a more even flow through them Don't burn all your bridges behind you, as they say! May 30, 201114 yr Lewis, this isn't a fugue yet, because it doesn't follow the guidelines that make a fugue what it is by definition. There are some problems, but you have good instincts. You just need to know some rules that will help you proceed in the right way. Even in a two voice fugue, the two entrances cannot be in the same key: the second voice must enter at the dominant, meaning a fifth higher or a fourth lower. In A minor, the first entrance would be in A minor, and the second would be in E minor. Also, watch out for parallel octaves and fifths - there are a lot of those in this piece, and they are forbidden in this kind of writing. If you need to know more about this, contact me or consult my Fugue Lesson, as I know you already have. Keep trying! None of us came from the womb knowing how to do this.
May 30, 201114 yr Hey i really like this!!!!i like how you sequence melodies with both voices!!it also have a strong directional flow! even though theoretically u have parallel fifths but heck it still sounds nice and creative to me!(heh im a person who doesn't really care about theory but they're still very important)!yes agree with heckel, the Csharp in the key change is quite abrupt, but you can work on it later and provide a smoother transition. =) Overall i like it!!! and this music DESERVES to be here, trust me! ^^ All the best!!!!!! -CJ
