The Knight's Revenge for Orchestra

Featured Replies

Okay, so this is a piece I am currently working on. I took it to my conductor and he pointed out a few errors which I have fixed for the main part. I am contemplating doubling the time on the second page when the full orchestra comes in because I think it will make the score easier to read and conduct. Let me know what you think on that and any suggestions that you might have.

Thank you for your time! I have attach a Finale file, MP3, and a PDF. Feel free to tweek around with the finale file. You can send me your ideas or corrected finale file to johnprestondennis@yahoo.com if you like.

Definitely make from page 2 to the horn solo double time. Then the horn solo could be marked as rubato (and maybe take out the barlines to help with that?).

Also, you could use this as a chance to take advantage of versatile woodwind doubling (or at least make the score denser in that area) by using english horn/oboe 2 or bass clarinet or flute 2 or contrabassoon... you get the idea.

One last thing- maybe you could write some harmonies into your woodwind runs? It would help make them sound less thin- again, another flute player could help with this.

I like it. Keep up the awesome.

Hey thanks! I will definitely be doubling the time...for the sake of a cleaner and better looking score, and yes I need some more harmony in the runs...I do agree. I'm not sure how to remove the bar lines, but I actually think I am going to add some background counter melodies and chords to move it along and give it variety. I think to just have a solo after such a dramatic full orchestral triple forte is a little abrupt!

Thank you! Those were great comments!
