Romantic Dream

Featured Replies

That's my piano composition called "A Dream".Wanted to write something more "colourful", romantic, maybe expressionistic.Thank you for listening.I hope you enjoyed)ps: sorry, can't upload a score.

Romantic Dream

This had some interesting harmonies. "Interesting" being a euphemism for weird. The chords never go where you expect them to, and I get the sense of very loose keys, although, not having the best ears, I could be wrong. A score would be helpful to both of us; you would get more reviews as well. The tempo is fluid and you also hardly repeat any motivic ideas. This does not help give the listener something to grab on to. This almost sounds like an improvisation. There are good moments in the piece, and I feel I would really enjoy the style of writing here if it were made more solid.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the reason that you are unable to post a score?

Thx for listening Ian.

It's a pity that you couldn't follow this piece, maybe you'll get an idea of it if you'll listen to it a 2nd, 3rd,..

Loose keys: Maybe I varied the melody too much... idk; tried to create a "new" harmony.

About the score:

I wrote all that into a piano roll of a software. I have a notation software, but it created a very stupid score.

Yes, it sounds improvisational and a little messy but if that's what you wanted to do, then there is no problem. I personally liked it, it reminded me a little of Scriabin, the very ending was the only part that bothered me, precisely because it was expected. I often have the feeling that young people use the word "dream" in a title as an excuse to lack form, sometimes it gets too surrealist, here it's ok.

Thank you for listening) Glad to know that you liked it and that it reminded you of Scriabin)

Sorry for the ending ^^ ;) I understand you.

I just had to find a finish because I'm very busy right now, no time for writing...
