The Frog Prince Musical

Link to all four pieces: The Frog Prince Musical

I Just Want to Be Free is the main theme from a new musical that I am working on called The Frog Prince. The story is based on the Grimm Fairytale with a whole twist of its own. In a nutshell, there is a princess named Anna who is to marry another prince named Percy. Once they are married, their kingdoms will join forces and help Anna's town people out of the problems they are having with crop failure. What they do not know is that an evil cursed was placed on the soil and Prince Percy is being used by the Wizard to gain control over both kingdoms. So, the King, Queen, and town throw a celebration and engagement party for the soon to be couple. At the party, Percy asks Anna to marry...but she makes an excuse and runs off into the woods. In the woods she sings about how she wants to be free and such. She meets a young village boy who is one of the few people not attending the party. There are some comic elements having to do with him since he is skinny dipping, but eventually they fall in love. However, this is not according to the evil Wizards plans so he turns Ty into a frog and casts him far into the forest. There is the forest he meets some froggy friends, including Big Burtha who has lots of love to share and loves every frog-man she runs into. At the end of the musical things are restored, but with a twist that will leave everyone smiling and laughing.

Here is a short slideshow I made to help tell the details of what the story is about:

These professional samples/demos were recorded in Murfreesboro, TN on February 5, 2011.

The World Premiere of these four (4) pieces I have uploaded will be staged for a 10-15 sample at Roane State Community College in Harriman, TN on April 29, 2011 and May 1, 2011. The full production is set to be premiered during the summer of 2011 at Roane State Community College. Total length of the musical will be approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes or the length of a typical Disney movie.

After completion I will be submitting the musical for consideration of student film makers and have it turned into an animated feature. Thank you! Please note that I Just Want to Be Free and Big Burtha will be having more verses added at a later time.

Selections include:

I Just Want of Be Free

Big Burtha

Man of Your Dreams

The Spell

Sounds pretty epic, piano_player. I hope the production goes well!

Piano part sounds good. The vocals sound good too, but the words sounds a little a generic. Is there something more specific or unique about this character that you could throw in?

Neat surprise key change at the end.

Cool piece, piano_player!

I do understand that the lyrics are a little generic but once the rest of the piece is written I think you will find that the lyrics work really well. I will actually be hitting that F# Major Chord and going from that into G Major...then ending the piece in E Major hopefully.

Now, did you know that I have other pieces posted under the link? Big Burtha, Man of Your Dreams, and The Spell.

There will be more specifics about this character once I start writing out the book, but I am more or less still planning the story out in my mind. Perhaps it would be best to start writing the novel/book.

Thanks for reviewing!!
