A Night in the Castle

Featured Replies

This is a piece I began writing last June. I just finished it and I'm quite happy with it. It will go in my composition portfolio that I'm going to send to audition for music school. Enjoy!

A Night in the Castle

Hi!

Well, this is a very nice little piece here. Movie like, yes, but still some good stuff there :)

A few things:

First of all, it does need SOME change. The place where you changed keys could have gone on a bit longer, for more contrast from the D major.

And you certainly love English Horn! Now, that's right up my alley, as you might guess from my name. (If you don't know, Heckelphone is a bass/baritone oboe) And I never thought I'd hear myself say this but....... that solo is a little bit long! The player needs a breath in there. Perhaps you could break it up with clarinet or oboe. That'd still work.

Overall, though, it was pretty good!

Thanks for posting :)

Hey thanks! I appreciate your feedback. Haha yes, I love English Horn... My main instruments are Oboe and English Horn so I tend to score a lot more for them... :)
