The July 2012 Monthly Competition

I'm not finished listening to all the submitted pieces, but so far I'm pretty clear that Maestrowick and the Austen blew the ball out of town.

  • NathanHathawayAdams You did a fine job telling the general story. Unfortunately, I have never fulfilled ultimate nerdiness and I don't know all my superheros, sad childhood? I know :( so I don't know

  • Well this set of entries were, on the whole, very good stuff, so it required a lot of time to review everything thoroughly. Thanks to everyone for their patience!

  • Winds and Brass aren't acoustic instruments now?

I think you are missing IF's. http://www.youngcomposers.com/music/2858/july-competition-noah-and-the-ark-external-link/

THE DAY ISN'T OVER YET.

How does this work? Do comments & point breakdowns get PM'd or posted?

*bites nails*

He said we have until the 9th!

Judging from August 1st-9th.

Results announced on the 10th.

AND WE ARE CLOSED! Judges. Begin your work. You have till the 5th.

Whoops... Something got lost over here.

I know. I should have edited that. It is the 9th! DON'T WORRY!

I don't pretend to really know anything, but if I had to make a forecast after listening to all the pieces, I'd pick either Maestrowick or Austenite (possibly the former, since the Austen can't ever win anything :P ). Third place should go to Bachian, although Ad-Hoc and ChristianPerrotta are the darkhorses here.

Anybody taking bets before the results are up?

Interesting that all of those are tonal quasi-romantic works.

Tokkemon, do you consider my work (Oriental Rhapsody) quasi-romantic? Interesting...

I wasn't referring so much to the dark horses. Yours is clearly not romantic, yes.

:-(

Results?

They are forthcoming folks. Hold your horses!

I can't recall any previous instance when no contestants ask for a deadline extension, yet the judges do :horrified: ...

lol. The wait is starting to kill me.
