Where Can I Find Film Scores?

Featured Replies

Out of curiosity, I was hoping to be able to study the score/ plans for a film, which hopefully has been produced and is available for home viewing. Any ideas where I could obtain such a thing?

I've tried google (obviously); was unable to find anything.

Searching "film score" on google, scribd, and my local library shows me nothing.

pianofiles.com

You can find LOADS of film music scores there.

If you are looking for the entire score for an orchestra, then you may have to contact the composer directly. They generally don't have their scores for sale with any publisher unless they are from extremely well-known movies. You could probably find some star-wars study scores, but other scores you may have to buy from the composer directly and they tend to be extremely expensive.

I remember the first time I used Google.

Yeah, exactly. I wanna see the full thing with all the cues, markings, etc. Not some arrangement of star wars themes for beginner guitar or something.

6 pages worth of John Williams scores for study: http://www.alexanderpublishing.com/Departments/Composing-and-Film-Scoring/John-Williams-Study-Scores.aspx?sortorder=2&page=1

The way you want, bad news, you won't find. But you can mine at Google some parts, even that really used for recordings.

Or you can do the Scott Smalley orchestration course, he gives 350 pages of scores he did for many films.

Or harder yet, you can take it by ear.

You could try this - http://www.asmac.org/

or this - free-scores.com

good luck

or if you can get to a university music library (long shot)

N-joy :)

Yes, John Williams. That's a good site. Also check out "The Accidental Tourist," a great film and score and easy to learn by ear.
