janrecorder Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Hello, Since a week i've tied to write a pickup measures after many or by luck,i've finally resume the writing, but not the playback since Finale always plays the hidden rests So I can't export the audio file because there are unwanted stops in it. Can somebody help me to write correctly the pickup measure or split measure so that Finale executes the playback as written? What is the right procedure to make that Finale recognize and play it those measures? Finale is a great notification program but I'can't understand that the makers of that program have forgotten to handle that matter in a simple way. Many thanks on forehand Jan Quote
jrcramer Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 You can do multple things; there is a pickup option within finale. You just have to say how long the pickup is. The measure numbering is adjusted (ie the first measure does not count) Alternatively; you can cheat by alternating the time signature of one measure, say, to 1/4, but display it is 4/4. There is checkbox that opens up these extended posibilites. In the measure settings you could choose to let not that pickup measure count in the numbering. I hope this helps, Jaap Quote
janrecorder Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 Many thanks, Jaap for your quick response, Indeed, I've applicated your recommandation and it works in writing, but the playback still play the invisible rests. So when I create my audio file, I hear those invisible rests. thankfully, Jan Quote
jrcramer Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 as far as I know, there there are no hidden rests needed. Neither in the official pickup-measure-option (because Finale takes care of this), nor in the change-time-signature-option (because the measure is is full allready) my guess is that you told finale to fill the pickup measure with 4 beats (or 3, depening on the time sig you are writing in), in stead of 1, (to remain with the given example) Quote
