The cheap way would be to record your screen while the notation software plays back the file, but that looks terrible IMHO. YT channels like gerubach and incipitisfy have to do it manually in a very labour intensive fashion.
May 18, 201312 yr you can use a screencapper like screenhunter to easily create a sequence of frames with the hotkey and custom window size combo. the syncing still takes quite a bit of work though. not sure if there's already a solutionto that.
May 19, 201312 yr That's how I do it too. Make a pdf of my score, take screen shots, get them all into iPhoto saved as JPEGs. Generate a wav file of the music, load that into iTunes, then open iMovie, drag all the slides and music together, and manually adjust the timing of the images. It's actually nice to be able to adjust the timing by hand, as someone reading along may need more or less time to read ahead on the "page turns" depending on how tricky the score is at that moment. Takes forever though... Okay, programmers, here's a problem looking for a solution... (:

BTW, I like Gillian Welch very much. I know her first two records by heart now, having played them so often on the guitar. I can't afford a banjo now but I'd like to get my hands on one. Have you dropped your thumb yet? ;)
