May 8, 201411 yr I have sung choral music old and new, and I have found that I don't really like the new stuff. I was wondering if I was alone in this. If anyone can recommend a modern choral composer that has a more traditional style, I would be thankful.
May 8, 201411 yr I like Arvo Pärt's choral music. Even though it is modern, it is deep and meaningful and has a certain simplicity.
May 8, 201411 yr I never listen to recently composed choral music except for the mock-ups that get posted on this forum by such composers as The Marvelous Mademoiselle PateCeramics. Most of the choral music I listen to is church stuff like hymns and the annual Handel's Messiah performance that happens in every heavily churched region around here. Maybe I'll start listening to some, especially if you guys give some suggestions on this thread.

The Lamb, which I hadn't heard before, is a very beautiful piece that impacts you beyond the 3.5 minutes that it takes and lingers on in your mind and heart. Too bad I learned that it's composer had died. He was one of the contemporary composers whose music I explored and appreciated some years ago.
