La Legerete - Toccata for flute quartet (doubled with piccolo and alto flute) (for submitting for call for scores)

Featured Replies

Hi! I just completed my 1-minute flute quartet, and would like to submit for the call for scores...They will select around 15 one-minute pieces for recital and recording months later...

But since they will allow only one piece per composer, I will need to choose only one out of two 1-minute pieces ((1)La Legerete and (2)La Legerete - Toccata) I've already made...

Could you comment on each of two pieces, and suggest which piece will be better for submitting for the competition?

Thanks a lot and have a good day!

I like the second one better... the non-toccata.
I just thought the toccata used to many non-functional crossed voices which made the lines blend in a way that didn't sound harmonious. The second was much more charming.

I also prefer the second one.

the motif in the tocatta is a bit "persistente"

I see in both cases you move very often by steps.

Also casting my vote for the second one- It's much more coherent but also more interesting.
